Lo Scopetaccio is a roustic villa totally immersed in the Tuscan
countriside, in the middle of a chestnut grove, 2km from the village
of Sassofortino.

The villa has been totally renovated and refurnished bringing together
the warmth of a typical Tuscan country house with modern comforts.

Lo Scopetaccio is surrounded by a very large garden and it has a
covered veranda with benches to sit outside.

The main entrance opens into a vast kitchen-livingroom, with a large
fireplace.
The kitchen is provided with all the necessary equipment and a washing
machine and an electric oven.

In the kitchen there is a large picture window which looks out onto
the chestnut grove, aloowing guests to enjoy the splendour of the
surrounding countryside even from within the house.

A spiral staircase leads to the ground floor, made up of two bedrooms
and a bathroom.

The first bedroom has a double bed and the second has two bunkbeds.
Both bedrooms have large closets.

The bathroom is fully modern and has a shower cabinet.

Local Area Details

Lo Scopetaccio is located 2km from Sassofortino, a medieval village of
900 people.

Not far from the centre of the village are the ruins of a medieval
castle.
The woods surrounding the village are crisscrossed by numerous paths
and hiking trails leading to the castle and to the "sasso", a popular
picnic spot.

The village has the essential services, including supermarket,
bankmachine, restaurants, etc.

In the vicinity, there are other typical Tuscan villages: Roccastrada,
Roccatederighi and Montemassi, which are well worth a visit.

Sassofortino is a convenient base for visiting Upper Maremma and many
of the world-famous cities of art in the area.

From here you can:

- Visit the major city centres (Florence, Siena and Grosseto)
- Visit vinyards around the village. Monteregio wine is produced in
this area. However, there are other great DOCs in the area: Montecucco
, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, and Morellino di Scansano.
- Visit the abbeys of San Galgano, Sant'Antimo, San Lorenzo and the
abbey of Monte Oliveto in Val d'Orcia
- Visit Castles: Montemassi, Roccatederighi, Monte Antico, Casenovole,
Poggio alle Mura, the fortress at Montalcino and the Brunello Wine Cellars
- Visit the Chianti Region, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and Colle Val
d'Elsa
- Visit the Maremma and the Coast: Massa Marittima, Punt'Ala,
Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia, Principina, Monte Argentario, etc.
- Visit the ancient Etruscan empire: Vetulonia, Buriano, Roselle,
Pitigliano, Sovana, Sorano,
- Visit Maremma Natural Park
- Visit spas at Petriolo and Saturnia

Sassofortino is very central. All of these places can be reached in
30 minutes - one and a half hour’s drive. For a longer trip, Pisa and
Lucca are reachable in just over two hours.
