Middle Fell United Kingdom
House in England, United Kingdom
Property Details of England House
Middle Fell is a large stone built house, situated at over 1,500 ft above sea level on a peacefull hillside, one mile from Alston. It is approached by a steep private road nearly half a mile in length and is set in open countryside which is typical of the North Pennines. In 1991 the house was imaginatively converted from three farm cottages and traded as small hotel for several years. More recently, the house has been re-equipped and redecorated so that it now offers high quality self-catering accomodation. The property has the benefit of a full fire certificate and is ideal for large family parties, university reunions, or chilling out with friends.
Local Area DetailsLying in the shadow of Cross Fell in an area which has been described as England's last wilderness, the market town of Alston (population 2500) is an attractive rural town with a cobbled high street and many small shops, cafes and pubs. Local attractions include excellent fell and valley walks, a golf course (open to visitors), fishing, pony trekking and a narrow gauge railway. Further away, though still within 30 minutes drive, are Hadrian's Wall, the English Lake District, High Forse and Cauldron Snout waterfalls and Talkin Tarn, as well as the larger towns of Hexham, Penrith, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Brampton and Stanhope.
