The utility room has a washing machine and tumble drier and a drying rack.
From the kitchen there is access to the garden and patio which overlooks the river. Barbeque equipment and garden furniture are provided for those balmy summer evenings. The large sitting room has wonderful river views and is well supplied with easy chairs, sofas, satellite television, video player, stereo, books and games. Logs are provided for the woodburning stove.
The four bedrooms are simply yet stylishly furnished and have very comfortable beds, made up for your visit with fresh, crisply ironed linen. There is plenty of storage space in each room, and a set of fluffy towels for each guest is provided. A cot, high chair and pressure mounted stairgates can be supplied if required. There are an accommodating number of bathroom/wcs in the house - three in all, one on each floor.
The Bobbin Mill has been designed with a self contained flat which is included in the detailed accommodation and is accessed from the entrance porch. This could be suitable for a nanny or cook and can be locked if required. The accommodation includes a small kitchen with dining area, shower room and separate stairway leading to a single bedroom/study.
For the safety and comfort of all our guests, the Bobbin Mill is a strictly no smoking house, though there are no objections to smoking outside. For the same reason we don't accept pets.
Local Area DetailsIn an idyllic location on the banks of the River Earn, the Mill is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a mile from the picturesque village of Comrie. The wildlife seen from the Mill doorstep is diverse - Roe Deer (often enjoying the garden plants!), an otter eating a fish on the river bank, red squirrels in the beech trees outside the door, kingfishers, herons and ducks on the river, and owls and oystercatchers noisily making their presence known in the evening. Comrie itself is a typically friendly Scottish village with a good range of shops, bars, tearooms and restaurants and is an ideal location for exploring the Scottish Highlands. Perth, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow are also easy trips. The local shopping town of Crieff is 7 miles away.
There are glorious walks from the Mill to suit all abilities, from lazy ambles along leafy lanes to tackling the several Munroes in the area. Fishing is a popular local sport and those inclined can fish from the garden or travel the banks of the Earn to the Loch at St Fillans.
The local lanes and roads are wonderful for biking and there are plenty off-road tracks to suit the more adventurous. Golf is a way of life in Perthshire and there are over 30 courses in the county ranging from our own local 9 hole course to the world-class championship courses at Gleaneagles, a half hour's drive away.
The Bobbin Mill is within easy travelling distance of many local attractions including the oldest distillery in Scotland, water sports on Loch Earn, the Auchingarrich wildlife centre, the Drummond Trout Farm and fishery, and the Stuart Crystal centre.
