Cape Town is approx. 25 minute drive from Melkbos. The Western Cape experiences a Mediterranean-type climate with a long hot summer from October to March, with little rain. At least 11 hours of sunshine and lovely balmy summer evenings. Our backdrop of Table Mountain is the pride of all Capetonians, and probably the most famous. You can also climb to the summit there are various marked routes, only for experienced hikers and mountain climbers. Even on warm days, it?s advisable to bring a sweater or windbreaker, as it is cooler at that altitude. Have you ever heard the saying that Cape Town has four seasons that sometimes occur in one day, well it does happen, so if you are planning to go outdoors or hiking, please remember to go prepared. On the top you can go for walks, shop, have lunch or just take enjoy the view and take lots of photos. Bad weather does halt the operations of the cable car. www.tablemountain.net

Cape Point is the Southern most tip of the Cape Peninsula, situated between the cold Benguela current and the warm Agulhas current. The Cape Peninsula Nature Reserve with its 40km of coastline and 7750ha of flora and fauna is a must to visit. The cliffs at the southern point towers more than 200m above sea level, it has 3 outcrops, Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope and Cape Maclear. Cape Point is also known as the Cape of Storms, it is a menace to all ships, especially at night and in heavy fog or mist. There are at least 23 shipwrecks along this coastline. In 1860 the first light house was completed at 238 metres above sea level, the only problem was that in heavy fog or mist, the light was obscured. They built and finished a second light house in March 1919, at only 87 metres above sea level. This still remains the most powerful lighthouse in South Africa. There is excellent diving, fishing, walks, hiking, cycling, historical monuments and beautiful scenery to keep you riveted. www.capepoint.co.za
