Looking for something different? We have 13 acres of calm, in the Perigord Noir. Chantegrel is so peaceful, you could easily imagine that you were truly lost in the middle of nowhere. However, the lively town of Sarlat is less than 4kms away.
Laze by the pool, go to the market, sightsee, spend an evening in Sarlat watching the street entertainment. From Chantegrel you can mix and match your holiday with ease. We are exceptionally well placed to enable you to have the kind of holiday that you are looking for.
Prior to WWII Chantegrel was a working farm, the old farm buildings have been renovated as gites. With tiled floors, thick stone walls and high vaulted roofs, the gites are simple in style. However, they each have the modern appliances, including dishwasher, that are neccessary for your convenience.
Chantegrel is situated amongst 13 acres of fields, meadows and woods. During WWII the farm became a Resistance hideout which remained undiscovered by the occupying forces. We have often wondered why we had two bread ovens. Apparently the guns and explosives were kept in the second bread oven.
Our main aim whilst you are here with us, is for you to have a great time during your holiday. Should you wish, we can advise you on where to go, where to eat. We can book restaurants, canoes etc, on your behalf. In the main season, croissant and bread can be ordered from the village restaurant/bar. You will find us fairly easy going, in July and August we have a weekly BBQ by the pool - we stay up late, watch the stars, dip in the pool at midnight and just chill out to the maximum.
This gite is approximately 35 sq m and is suitable for two people. ( possibility to sleep 4. See below.)
Bedroom - Double room. Room for extra single bed or cot. Possibility to sleep two downstairs on very comfortable sofa bed. Bathroom - Shower room with handbasin, separate toilet. Kitchen- Combined microwave/oven, mixed gas electric hob, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine is communal, situated by pool. General - We provide all bed linen plus hand towel and tea towels. The price for the gite includes all services. Outside - Parking convenient to the gites. Large pool and pool surround. The pool is alarmed and gated. Each gite has its own patio with patio set, sun umbrella and BBQ. Swings and slide for children. Entertainment - Tennis available in the local village. We have a selection of books available and can provide toys for our younger guests. We have 4 bikes available (contact us for further details).
Local Area DetailsClose to Sarlat, a medieval city with many buildings dating between 1450 to 1500. We are central to most of the local attractions.
Within easy reach of Les Eyzies, Beynac, Castelnaud, Roque Gageac, Domme, Montignac, Rocamadour, the Dordogne and Vezere rivers.
Local attractions include: canoeing, cycling, walking, castles, prehistoric sites (caves, trogloditic dwellings, ancient cave paintings), arial tree parks, formal and informal gardens, a maze of maize, ballooning, tours of the Perigord Noir by light aeroplane or helicopter, childrens farm, freshwater aquarium, village acivities from times past. This is just a flavour of what is locally available. Some of our guests have returned to this region time and time again, either with or without their children. Whether you want a quiet time, to join into the street entertainment, eat superbly, or just have quiet a coffee watching life pass by - all this is available to you close to Sarlat or in the Perigord Noir.

| Arrival times 1600 local time, if you arrive early you are welcome to leave your luggage or go and use the pool. Departure 1000 local time. Final cleaning deposit of 70 euros, paid on arrival. No smoking allowed inside the gites (we have had a number of asthmatic guests), but you are welcome to smoke outside. Regretfully we are unable to accommodate Pets. We have 2 adult and 2 childrens bikes (10yrs, 12yrs) available. However, it is your responsibity to assure both their suitability and roadworthiness before use. We will undertake any maintenance mutually deemed neccessary. Deposit is 25% on booking, balance due 8 weeks before arrival. We bank in the UK. This gite is regularly chosen, in July and August to sleep 4. We are not sure why, but this proves to be successful. The gite is priced for 2 people, there is no additional charge for sleeping 4. A possible reason for this sucess is that families in July and August use the gite solely as a place to sleep. |
