The house overlooks the island's famous 3 mile pink sand beach. It features 4 double french doors which open to the sea, allowing the house to be filled with trade wind breezes. It has newly been expanded and renovated with all new very attractive furniture and decor by it's new owner. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. One bedroom has a king size bed, one has a queen bed, and two have twins which can be made up as queens. The bedrooms are air conditioned and there is satellite T.V. The kitchen has been completely remodeled. The exterior of the house is surrounded by palm trees and has a patio and a hammock. There is also a charcoal grill.
Summer days and nights are almost always cooled by the soft trade winds. During the day, the pink sand beach along with the emerald ocean and varying cloud formations provide an ever changing panorama. At night, looking for shooting stars or just star gazing, can provide an evening of inexpensive entertainment (you can almost reach out and touch the stars).
To make life even more pleasant, there is a maid who visits every day except Sunday. She will clean the house and help you with anything you need. She is also available to cook meals but that is an additional charge. If you would like groceries to be at the house when you arrive you can call or fax (242-333-2120) Piggly Wiggly. It's fun, however, to do the shopping yourself, and they will be happy to deliver to the house. Piggly Wiggly is open on Sunday between 8:00-10:00A.M.
Local Area DetailsHarbour Island is located just off the tip of the large island of Eleuthera in the central Bahamas. It's village of Dunmore Town was founded by the British in the 1700's. Most of the homes built in the 1700's and 1800's remain and have been restored and several have become small inns with bars and restaurants. Most of these feature patios and porches for outside dining and socializing.
Harbour Island is often described as the undiscovered "Nantucket" of the Bahamas (with palm trees and tropical flowers everywhere). It is 3 1/2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide and everybody gets around by bike, golf cart, or by walking. Harbour Island has been featured in many magazines such as "Town and Country", "Gourmet", "Caribbean Travel & Life", and "Islands".
