Chrissydale, the only cottage on the site, is located to provide a beautiful view from the rear deck down the valley into the farm community of Long River. Another advantage of this site is that it is a third of a mile back from Long River Road, far enough to eliminate road noise and offering unusual peace and quiet. From the front porch of the cottage there is a view of the farm house and the woods to the north, which is quite pleasant.

Coming in the cottage front from the porch, which has wicker chairs and a wicker settee, one enters a living room which has a sofa, two easy chairs, a rocking chair, a glass-front wood stove, and a TV. To the right is a dining room with a maple table and chairs. Behind that is a modern kitchen with refrigerator, electric range, sink and cabinets, but no dish washer. Then there is a small utility room with washer and drier, and the back door leading to the large deck. The kitchen has all utensils one would need, including a toaster and coffeemaker.

Upstairs are the three bedrooms and bath, with tub and shower. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, two chest of drawers and a closet. The second bedroom has a double bed with a vanity table, chest of drawers and closet. The third bedroom has twin beds, chest of drawers, night table, and closet. There is a propane grill.

All of this is clean and well-done - a place you could enjoy very well for your PEI vacation

Local Area Details

Chrissydale, located in the heart of Anne of Green Gables country near the beautiful north shore, is surrounded by fields of hay and grain, and sometimes potatoes. You may walk through a field to the tree farm on the hillside above, from which you have a gorgeous view of Long River, French River, New London Bay and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The woods on the north side of the Homestead are on our property. Go out the drive, turn left, and at the top of the hill the gulf spreads before you, and to your right you see the Lake of Shining Waters mentioned so often in the Anne books. Beautiful secluded sand beaches abound at Park Corner (Cousin's Shore the locals call it) just ahead. The Anne of Green Gables museum and Tea Room is to the right from Park Corner, just down the hill.

The Save-Easy or Taylor's at Kensington, just ten minutes away, are fine for groceries, unless you want to go in to one of the malls in Summerside, which is a twenty minute drive. Women will enjoy Doughart's Ladies Wear. Children will like the entertainment centers at Cavendish, including Rainbow Valley, which has waterslides and many other family entertainment features.

Great golf courses are within an easy drive from Chrissydale, along with deep sea fishing and a wide variety of water sports.
