Property Details of Alaska Bed and Breakfast

Our lovely, secluded cottages are nestled on a hillside among birch trees with a grand view of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Mountains and their glaciers located only three miles from Homer, Alaska.
The cottages have sunny porches, private baths, delightful gardens, walkways and trails to explore. Two of the cottages are separate from the main house, one is attached to the main house, all have their own entrances and bathrooms. The rooms are decorated with furniture designed and crafted by the owners, and stocked with a wide selection of Alaskana literature and an extra-ordinary collection of Alaskan fossils and other natural-found objects.
Guests share a delicious breakfast with warm and friendly company and conversation in the main house. We serve freshly ground coffee, garden fresh peppermint tea, homemade sourdough breads and berry jams, smoked salmon, waffles with local blueberries, fresh fruit salads, omelette with homegrown eggs and fresh chives, "roesti"(swiss hash browns) and swiss muesli. Special requests gladly honored.
We welcome children, and offer several acres of outdoor space to explore and to visit with our cats, chickens and turkeys. Often moose wander by. Our boys, Paul and Arley, are eager to give a "tour."

Your hosts are Brigitte, born in Germany, and her husband Willie, originally Swiss. They've lived in Alaska for quite a while and built this home from scratch. Both love to create furniture, gardens, food and smiles.

Local Area Details

Nestled among rolling hills and overlooking Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains, this seaside community has 4,000 residents and another 8,000 beyond the city limits. In addition to the downtown area of Homer, a unique attraction is the Homer Spit, a long, narrow finger of land jutting 4.5 miles into Kachemak Bay. The Spit is home to our harbor and over 700 charter and commercial boat operators year round, growing to 1,500 in the summer months. Homer offers all the amenities of a small town.
While in or around Homer you could see moose grazing, a black bear crossing the road, puffins, seabirds, soaring eagles, sea otters, porpoises, killer whales, porcupine, harbor seal, beluga whales and more. A drive on any of Homer's back roads or a morning boat tour on the bay will make wildlife viewing easy and enjoyable.
Exciting adventure awaits you across Kachemak Bay! The Kachemak Bay State Park, with over 30 miles of trail and 375,000 acres of wilderness, provides excellent back-country hiking, camping, wildlife viewing, lake & stream fishing, and cabin rentals. Or visit scenic Halibut Cove, a remote fishing and artists village where the streets are paved with water. And don't miss Seldovia, where berry picking, hiking, kayaking and mountain biking are just a few of the activities in the town known as "The City of Secluded Charm."
