La Bergerie was built nearly 300 years ago and has recently been carefully restored and converted into a lovely detached cottage retaining many of its original features. The traditional thick stone walls and insulated roof makes it deliciously cool in summer and cosy and warm in winter. Inside it is spacious and very comfortable. Upstairs: There are 3 double bedrooms - the first with full size double bed, second with full size twin beds and third with full size bunk beds. All have fitted wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside tables with reading lights, heating, duvets and plenty of pillows. Linen is supplied and the beds are made up ready for use. There is a full size bathroom with bath, shower, wash basin and w.c.. French windows open onto a flowery terrace and steps lead down to the poolside dining area where there are tables, chairs and BBQ with truly breathtaking views and wonderful sunsets. Downstairs: In the living room the chestnut floor and panelling complement ancient oak beams, exposed stone walls, traditional fireplace and log fire. It is beautifully furnished with really comfortable two and three seater settees, armchair and writing desk. On the bookshelves there is a large selection of books (and guides) for both adults and children, and plenty of games and jigsaws puzzles. Top and bottom of stairs have removable stair gates. In the dining area there is a notice board which we keep upto date with information about local events, places of interest, advice and recommendations. The fully equipped kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, double sink, fridge/freezer, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster, cooking utensils, china, glass and plenty of cupboard space. Washing machine, iron & board are in adjacent utility room. Heating is by log fired ducted hot air system supplemented with electric wall heaters. Gas, electricity,bed linen and all cleaning material are included. High chair and cot are available on request. La Bergerie is surrounded by flowers and herbs in its own terraced garden. There are sun-loungers, parasols, table and chairs beside your private pool (7.3m by 3.7m) with thermal cover, for your exclusive use and you may use the shared 10m x 5m pool. The pool area is fenced. A path leads straight into the wildflower meadows behind the cottage and on into our 100 acres of private woodlands where children can play and explore in safety and freedom with Stripey, our very friendly dog. The views extend from Mont Capel in Spain to the snow-capped Canigou range. There are meadows, trees and mountains as far as the eye can see, on the skyline are the 1000 year old towers of Cabrenç. It is absolutely peaceful and beautiful
