Gandia is in the district of La Safor, in the province of Valencia. Located 65km. south of Valencia and 116 km. north of Alicante, Gandia lies on a privileged site between the mountains and the sea. Sports: Gandia offers extensive sports facilities for practically all tastes. Water sports are of course at the top of the list: sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving. But the mountains and local terrain also offer activities such as speleology, bicycle tours and mountaineering. Gandia provides an attractive array of activities for sports lovers. The joc de la pilota (a handball game) is a genuine tradition in the area, and is practised in the streets and in trinquetes (pelota courts). A visit to a pilota game is strongly recommended for those who haven't seen this swift, exciting game played with bare hands. The Safor Mountains boast small rustic villages such as Barx and Marquqera, which are well loved by walkers and cyclists. Fishing and horse riding are also available locally.
Feel free to discover the enchantment of its broad, majestic beaches to the north, its rugged hills and mountains overlooking the sea, such as Mount Montduver with an altitude of 841m. Further Details: Gandia is situated on the Orange Blossom Coast and is set in a typical picturesque region of the Costa del Azahar. The village, Villalonga where you can find all the shops, bars and restaurants you could need, is 5 minutes away. Here you can enjoy the wonderful sandy beaches with safe swimming and, of course, beach sidebars.
Further activities:Terra Mitica theme park with large rides, a water park and bird park, all lay behind the large resort of Benidorm, approx. 35 minutes from the house.
The nearby town of Oliva provides ample all year round shopping facilities, including bars and restaurants. A weekly market is held on Fridays.
The villa is ideally located for golfers with the Oliva Nova golf course and the La Sella golf club near Denia. Other sporting facilities provided at Oliva include sailing and deep-sea fishing, tennis, windsurfing, kitesurfing, Karting and horse riding.
Benidorm can be reached by car in just over 45 minutes and the attractions of Aqualand, Terra Mitica and Mundomar are well worth a visit.
