The town Berchtesgaden and the Alpine National Park are situated around the mountain Watzmann and Lake Königssee and belong to the world´s leading holiday spots. Destinations such as Königsee, Obersalzberg-Eagles-Nest, Wimbach Gorge, Lake Hintersee and Jenner Cable Car, can all be reached in just minutes by car. The neighboring Salzburg province also offers countless day trips destinations. Mozart´s City of Salzburg is just 20 minutes away.

Coming by Autobahn from either Munich or Innsbruck, exit at Bad Reichenhall,
coming from Salzburg and Vienna, Autobahn exit Berchtesgaden (highway toll sticker).
A nice way to arrive is via the German Alpine Road (B 305).

The Royal Palace

Starting with the Romanesque cloisters, you proceed through the periods of gothic, baroque, rococo and Biedermeier: a perfect portrayal of Europe's most important styles. Though the Royal Palace was extended throughout the centuries, the older sections were left practically intact. This is why you can see various periods immortalized in one single building. The tour also gives insight into Berchtesgaden unique and proud history. Crown Prince Rupprecht decorated many of the rooms with valuable objects from the royal Wittelsbach family's art collection.
