Nearly 200 years old, Caifiordi has been completely and tastefully restored to a relaxing and tranquil mountain retreat from where you can easily explore the many cultural, artistic and historical highlights the region has to offer.
Casa Caifiordi is a very charming country house, only 7 km from the medieval village of Pietralunga, which is placed between Citta' di Castello and Gubbio. The area is not yet frequented by tourists, allowing you to experience the real taste of Umbrian hospitality.
For anyone wishing to spend a lovely holiday in Umbria, the green heart of Italy, Casa Caifiordi without doubt offers a particularly interesting opportunity.
After restoration Caifiordi is an attractive family home, tastefully furnished with fine antiques and pieces of high quality wood made by the local craftsmen. The ceilings with exposed wooden beams and antique terracotta tiles, partially exposed stone walls create a rustic atmosphere.
The living/dining room has an open fireplace as well as a wood burned stove. The sofa can be turned into a double bed. Ensuite there is a kitchen with all the equipment you need.
A spiral staircase leads down to the spacious master bedroom with private bathroom and french windows giving access to a covered portico. The first floor offers a twin bedded room and another bathroom.
The house is surrounded by private grounds and a meadow garden. Its hilltop position offers a magnificent view over the surrounding landscape: the rolling green hills, the golden meadows and in the background the muted tones of the rugged Apenines. In this paradise of peace you can enjoy the nice climate and fresh air, the tranquility, the beautiful evenings under a starfilled sky that will give you the right Italian experience. A perfect base to easily explore the many cultural, artistic and historical highlights the region has to offer.

The location of Caifiordi offers you the possibility to make beautiful walks or to explore the surroundings by mountain bike. Horse riding, archery, swimming, tennis, fishing, trekking and ultra-light flying within 15 min. There are two golf courses at half an hour drive.
Lake Trasimeno with its little towns and islands and the beaches of the Adriatic coast are at one hour drive.
The lovers of culture can visit the famous historical and medieval towns like Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona, Spoleto, Todi and Orvieto and enjoy the museums, theatres, restaurants and the shopping possibilities. Also the cities of Rome, Florence and Siena can be reached by car or train.
Moreover almost every town or little village in Umbria has its own festival or 'sagra' where history and traditions come alive with customs of the past, historical costumes, music and gourmet specialties.
For those who have a special interest in wine and/or olive oil there are several estates and wine areas that are worthwile visiting.
In late autumn and winter there are possibilities to go on mushroom and truffle picking with a local guide and when there is snow the nearby Apenines offer wintersports on a small scale.
Not far from Caifiordi you can find several restaurants serving all the local delicacies and typical Umbrian dishes. Pietralunga has several shops and supermarkets, bars and pub, a postoffice, bank etc.
