Puerto Pollensa
The island of Majorca is one of the most privileged in the Mediterranean, boasting magnificent mountains and inland scenery, a superb coastline studded with caves and sandy beaches. Away from the tourist beaches around Palma, Majorca is a beautifully unspoilt island.
Windmills, rustic farms and charming little villages dot the wide fertile plains in the south. The rugged coastline is studded with tiny, deserted coves backed by pine-clad cliffs. The dramatic mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana dominate the north. Green valleys nestle amongst the pine-covered slopes to nurture lush orchards of orange, lemon and almond trees. Spectacular Cape Formentor guards excellent beaches.

Situated on the North East side the island, Puerto Pollensa combines magnificent mountains, a horseshoe bay with safe sandy beaches, added to a micro climate you end up with a truly magnificent setting!

Puerto Pollensa is an attractive marina, with excellent water sports on the long safe beach and whose promenade, the famous ?Pine Walk? is fringed with lively bars and super fish restaurants, breakfast on an ensaimada bun or dine on, Frito Mallorquin!

Pollensa
Hide in with its narrow cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Buy local pottery, lace, shoes and fresh vegetables at the famous Sunday market or take an evening coffee and watch the world pass you by. At the top of the highest mountain dominating Pollen�a - Puig de Santa Mar�a - is an ancient hermitage (the Santuari). The friars who ran the institution all died off long ago, with none arriving to replace them. Nuns then took their place, but history sadly repeated itself, and a married couple now professionally run the place.

Visitors can spend the night in the spartan rooms if they so wish - it's a hard climb up though! (It can also be reached by car along a twisting road off the main Palma - Pollen�a road.) - In the town of Pollen�a itself, just behind the church, is El Calvario. This is a set of 365 steps - one for each day of the year - leading up to a hermitage and church with a life-sized image of the Virgin that supposedly dates from the 13th century. On each side of the steps are typical Mallorquin houses, many of them today occupied by foreign residents. Climbers are rewarded with a fine view of the town, bay, and surrounding countryside. On Good Friday an impressive religious spectacle takes place on the steps as Christ's body is (supposedly) carried down the 365 steps. More recently it has become a haven of excellent Restaurants and cafes to pass away an evening
