Priory Cottage Bright cheerful and welcoming United Kingdom
Barn in England, United Kingdom
Property Details of England Barn
Once a barn and now converted into a charming upside down cottage with lots of woodwork, exposed beams and a pale pine kitchen with pretty tiles. There are electric panel radiators throughout the cottage and a woodburning stove in the sitting room. Equipped to a high standard, comfortable furnishings, old pine, pictures, pottery and flowers abound.
From the first floor there are lovely views over the garden and glimpses of the sea down through the wooded valley. The open plan living room/kitchen is reached by stone steps leading up to a stable door. Downstairs there is a double bedroom (4'6" bed with king size duvet), a twin-bedded room with hand-built old pine cabin beds, a supply of toys and a smart bathroom (shower above the bath).
All the downstairs rooms overlook the private patio which is equipped with garden furniture and is for the exclusive use of guests in Priory Cottage. There is a children's stairgate and a cot and highchair available.
The cottage is equipped with TV, video player and videos, radio, CD player, books and games along with a shed in the enclosed grassy "mowhay" opposite which has a few more toys and a BBQ which is for the use of guests in both cottages.
Local Area DetailsPriory Cottage is set in the grounds of our 18th Century farmhouse built on the site of an old Cistercian Monastery, some ruins of which are still visible today. Our home and the two cottages are beautifully set on the outskirts of St. Keverne. A stream runs through the grouns with a small waterfall, millpond and old clapper bridge.
St. Keverne is set around a square with an imposing church, two pubs, a restaurant and a couple of shops. The Lizard Peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty and varied scenery from the magnificent coastline, sandy beaches and famous coves to Goonhilly Downs and the romantic wooded valleys and creeks of the Helford River.
There are many Historic houses and gardens, galleries galore and good restaurants all within easy reach, as are Penzance, St. Ives (Tate Gallery) and the Cathedral City of Truro. The Eden project also make an enjoyable days outing. For those of a more energetic nature the Lizard is a wonderful place for walking, especially along the awe inspiring coastal path.
