The villa is quite far from other houses and main roads and it guarantees absolute peace and privacy. The view of the surrounding mountains is awesome, to be fully enjoyed sitting in the garden with a glass of Trebbiano or Montepulciano d'Abruzzo in your hand. The property comprises a 350-square-metre garden with fruit trees, garden chairs and barbeque, patio with table for al fresco dining, living room with open fireplace, beamed ceiling, TV set with DVD player, kitchen/dining room with beamed ceiling and open fireplace (a limited amount of wood logs is provided free of charge), double bedroom with king-size bed, two single bedrooms, a bunk bedroom, two shower-rooms and two utility rooms. The whole property is fenced and there is parking space for two cars within the fence.
There are convector heaters for the colder months.

Local Area Details

The house is situated in a secluded spot on the mountains of the Gran Sasso-Laga National Park, 800 metres above sea level. The surrounding area is covered with forests crossed by many footpaths and streams. It is a paradise for nature-loving people and it is ideal for hiking, horse-riding, fishing, mountain-biking. Within an hour's drive you will also find three skiing resorts, Lake Campotosto, wonderful "blue-flag" Adriatic sandy beaches and beautiful rolling hills with many ancient sites, villages and towns to visit (e.g. Ascoli Piceno, Atri, Teramo, L'Aquila). Teramo is 25 minutes away and, from there, Rome can be reached by motorway in less than 2 hours. Table tennis and board games in English are available at the villa.
The surrounding mountains are part of the Gran Sasso - Laga National Park, a protected area home to many species of trees, plants and animals, such as the royal eagle, the deer and the chamois. The Park comprises the highest peak in the Appenines (Gran Sasso - mt. 2912) and the southern-most glacier in Europe (both can be reached with the help of local guides). There are many tracks leading to gorges, springs, waterfalls, caves, ancient hermitages, churches, castles and abandoned villages. This area is famous for the quality of its cuisine, and at any village restaurant you will find excellent food at low prices. Wild truffles and "Porcini" mushrooms are abundant in these forests and many local trattorias serve porcini-based dishes that you simply won't find anywhere else.
