Property Details of Aquitane Gite

Recently converted from a farm building, the gite is set in a tranquil location overlooking pretty undulating countryside. Every care has been taken to retain the character of the house and each room is tastefully decorated and furnished, providing everything for a comfortable and relaxing stay (including gas central heating if required). The main entrance leads from a stone-walled terrace into a spacious dining room/lounge with satellite TV and DVD player. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom and adjacent shower room with wash-basin and WC. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, with electric oven, gas hob, diswasher, fridge and microwave oven. A separate utility room has a freezer, washing machine, sink and ironing facilities. Upstairs there is a large twin bedroom, a spacious mezzanine with a single and a roll-away bed and a second shower room with wash-basin and WC. Guests have the use of a swimming pool (9 x 5m)that can be seen from the terrace and the upper floor. Additional equipment includes parasols, fixed barbecue and sufficient sun loungers for all guests. Bedlinen and towels are included in the price with the exception of pool towels which are not provided. We, the owners live elsewhere on site and are only too happy to help in offering advices on places of interest to visit.

Local Area Details

The property is situated close to the Dordogne River and within easy distance of the medieval towns of St Emilion, Bergerac and Sarlat. The local Bastide villages all have lively markets throughout the year and during the summer months offer a selection of events ranging from firework displays, jazz festivals, son et lumière events to open air bric-a-brac fairs. Restaurants are plentiful and provide varied menus of wonderful regional cuisine.
Activities in the area include cycling, tennis, fishing, canoeing and horse riding. Golf can be booked at Château des Vigiers (www.vigiers.com). The Atlantic coast (Arcachon) offers some stunning scenery including breathtaking views from the Dune du Pyla.

By air: Bergerac from Stansted (Ryanair), Southampton and Bristol (Flybe). Carhire can be arranged from the airport which is just 30 minutes away.
Bordeaux offers flights from Gatwick (British Airways).
By train: Eurostar to Lille/Paris then TGV trains to Libourne or Bordeaux.
