Property Details of Pays de la Loire Farmhouse

Potet is situated approximately five minutes drive from St Hilaire des Loges, which has a number of small shops. There is a beach area on the river Vendee, which is nearby and is suitable for children, it has a water slide, pedaloes and canoes and is manned by lifeguards.
The nearest large town, Fontenay Le Comte, is within easy reach (approximately 15 minute drive). There are numerous areas to visit such as the Forest and Lakes of Mervent the Marais Poitevin and La Rochelle, which are detailed on the attached page. It is a quiet area of France with walking, cycling and boating nearby.

The Gite, which has recently been renovated, has five bedrooms, use of the 12 x 6 metre swimming pool (which is solely shared with the owners, when we have time!) and its own private terrace with barbeque and seating area.

The ground floor is approximatly 100 square meters and is dividied into three large rooms. The first is a fully fitted kitchen and with a small dining area. The kitchen has a full size cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine and a large selection of china, crockery and glasses. The second room is the main dining room, with a large dining table seating twelve and the third is the lounge with settees and sofa bed, and a TV, video and DVD player, and a large selection of games for all the family. There are two sets of stairs; the first leading to one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a shower room with toilet. The second set of stairs leads to two double bedrooms, a children’s room with bunk beds and two shower rooms with toilets.

The terrace is south facing and has a dining table, chairs and umbrellas. There is a short path that runs from the terrace of the Gite, skirting the owners’ potager to the swimming pool.

The heated pool, which is open from May to September, is fenced with an automatic closing gate and has a terrace area with sun loungers. In addition there is a covered seating area overlooking the pool adjoining the games area with table tennis and swings and a slide.

During the low season the gite can be divided for smaller groups:

Sleeping four people - it then comprises of one double bedroom and a twin bedroom and shower room on the first floor, and downstairs there is an open plan kitchen/diner and seating area.

Sleeping six to eight people - it then comprises of two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and two shower rooms with toilets on the first floor, and downstairs a kitchen/diner and separate lounge with a double sofa bed.

The gite has electric heating and two wood burning stoves; one in the kitchen and one in the lounge.

Local Area Details

The Surrounding area
The local village has a small supermarket, bakers, butchers, bank, restaurant and bar. Nearby Fontenay-Le-Comte, with its superb Chⴥau de Terre-Neuve, offers good restaurants. Coulonges-sur-l'autize has an excellent Tuesday market. Lac d'Albert at Chassenon, less than a ten-minute drive, has a sandy beach, swimming area with lifeguards, waterslides, pedaloes and canoes. Both the Marais Poitevin and Forest of Mervent ( http://www.mervent-foret.com/ )are easily accessible and offer excellent walking and childrens activities. Further afield are the attractions of La Rochelle with its modern aquarium, restaurants and port and Puy de Fou with its history theme park and impressive summer evening spectaculars. Poitiers and Futuroscope is approximately a two-hour drive as are Cognac and Royan.
