Welcome to our restored Victorian villa, located in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington. Conveniently located midway between Cincinnati and Columbus, just off of Interstate 71. Effie's Place Bed and Breakfast is designed for your personal comfort as your home away from home. We have three well appointed guestrooms with private baths, phones and wireless internet. Whether you are here on business in the Wilmington area, visiting nearby Wilmington College, or looking for a getaway in a small town setting, our convenient accommodations are sure to please you.

Built in 1871, Effie's Place is a two story Victorian villa with alabaster chandeliers, authentic leather wallpaper, stucco siding with a clay tile roof and a 7 foot stained glass window overlooking the main staircase.

We named our Bed and Breakfast after Effie Fisher, a prior owner of the home. Effie was married to the local newspaper publisher, William Fisher, and together they purchased the house in 1911. William died in 1916, but Effie continued to live alone in the house until 1965. In the first half of the century, Effie remodeled the house to its current architecture, including some of the most prominent features. Because so much that Effie incorporated into the house has remained unchanged, we didn't want to forget her.

We serve a full breakfast every morning at your convenience, so you are free to plan your day as you wish. We are familiar with the area attractions, so we can help plan your day's activities. If you are more adventurous, Wilmington is within a one hour drive of the three major cities of Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus, so you can enjoy a convenient day trip to any of these metropolitan areas.

If you are looking for a romantic weekend away, be sure to ask for the Denver suite. It has a whirlpool tub for two with a surrounding mural painted by a local artisan, and separate sitting room where you can enjoy a quiet sunset.
