Le Gardien is located within a large private Domaine set in the hillside in attractive and well cared for gardens with superb views over the Luberon valley towards the Vaucluse hills. The gardens around the house are on two levels with the magnificent swimming pool (15x7m) set on the lower level where there is also a private terrace for guests with garden furniture. There is a large sunbathing area around the pool and on the upper level of the garden there are lawns and flowerbeds with garden furniture under the trees providing shade in the heat of the day. The single story house is very comfortably furnished throughout with tiled provencal terracotta floors that provide a warm welcome. The living/dining room overlooks the pool and has French windows leading to a large terrace/balcony with superb views to the hills beyond - a lovely place for a sunshine breakfast at the start of the day or a pre-dinner aperitif. The modern kitchen is equipped with fridge, small cooker and dishwasher and a washing machine is also available. A small hall leads to the bathroom with bath and shower, and the bedroom which has a standard double bed. The house is centrally heated throughout for out of season usage. There is a television for entertainment.
The large gardens are secluded with well maintained lawns and flowerbeds. There are plenty of pleasant sitting out areas and chairs and tables are provided for eating out. Loungers are provided around the swimming pool which is open from May to September. The pool is exclusively for the use of Le Gardien clients and the owners, who occupy the main house.
Bed linen is provided but please bring your own towels.
Local Area DetailsThe Parc Naturel du Luberon is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty in southern Provence. Bounded to the north by the Vaucluse plateau and to the south by the Grand and Petit Luberon mountains the Luberon valley is a picturesque landscape of vineyards, orchards and lavender fields enhanced by the famous hilltop villages of Gordes, Roussillon and Menerbes to name but a few.
Le Gardien is in a spectacular location in the Luberon hills with superb views overlooking the valley and about 5 minutes drive from town of Apt. Apt has excellent shopping facilities with a renowned market every Saturday morning featuring a selection of superb local produce, pottery and other provencal goods. Good Cotes de Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon wine can be bought at any of the local Caves Co-operatives at the sort of price you dream of - our favourite is the Cave Co-operative de Bonnieux just off the main valley road the N100. There are many good restaurants in the area. The possibilities for superb walks are endless and tennis and riding are also available nearby.
Further afield, the attractions of Avignon, Aix, Nimes, Orange and Arles are all within easy exploring distance with the beaches of the Cote d?Azur and the Camargue accessible within around 2 hours via the Autoroute. The nearest airport is Marseille - approximately one hours drive from Apt.
If you visit the area in July or August and all you wish to do is lie in or around the pool or under the trees in the mature garden, this is a lovely place to do just that but other times of the year are just as lovely. Springtime is delightful with the cherry orchards in full bloom, the lavender fields look beautiful in June and in October the ?vendage? begins. This area is renowned for its sunshine days and blue skies all year round.

| The rent includes all services except heating between October and the end of April when a charge of ?30 per week is made. If you do not wish to clean the house after your stay a separate charge of ?25 is payable direct to the owners at the end of your holiday.
We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking.
A damages deposit of ?200 is payable before arrival. This is refunded after your departure once the house has been checked. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to clean and check the house we ask guests to arrive between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and to leave by 10:00 a.m.
In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained unless we can re-let or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance which covers cancellation. This is widely available, for example from airlines, ferry companies, and the AA.
