Charming village house in Roussillon France

House in Provence, France

Property Details of Provence House

La Maison de la Burliere is a three storey typical provencal village house originally built in the 18th century and now completely and very sympathetically renovated. The house faces south and has a pretty vine-shaded courtyard at the front. The courtyard is paved and equipped with garden furniture and a small barbecue.

On the ground floor, the living room has an attractive terracotta floor and features an eating area with table and chairs and a dresser and a comfortable area for relaxing with sofa, chairs and television. The small kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, storage cupboards and a washing machine.

The winding staircase leads to the first floor with a large double bedded room with a double bed. The room is pleasantly furnished with antique pieces in keeping with the style of the house. The south facing window overlooks the courtyard. The stairs continue up to the third floor where there is a second bedroom with two single beds. From this room french windows lead out onto the lovely roof terrace giving superb views across to the Luberon hills. The house has electric heaters for the cooler months. There is a shower room with wash basin and a separate toilet on the first floor The house is decorated throughout in the colours typical of this unique village giving the house a beautifully warm and sunny feeling.

Please note bedlinen and towels are not provided

Local Area Details

The Parc Naturel du Luberon is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty in southern Provence. Bounded to the north by the Vaucluse plateau and to the south by the Grand and Petit Luberon mountains the Luberon valley is a picturesque landscape of vineyards, orchards and lavender fields enhanced by the famous hilltop villages of Gordes, Roussillon and Menerbes to name but a few.

La Maison de la Burliere is located in the stunningly picturesque hilltop village of Roussillon, classsified as one of the most beautiful villages of France with its unique setting amidst the spectacular ochre cliffs. The house is only 150 metres from the shopping facilities in the centre of the village where there are numerous good restaurants, bars and art galleries. Good Cotes de Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon wine can be bought at any of the local Caves Co-operatives at the sort of price you dream of - our favourite is the Cave Co-operative de Bonnieux just off the main valley road the N100. The Chateau Blanc situated just below Roussillon on the road towards St. Saturnin is also well worth a visit.

Further afield, the attractions of Avignon, Aix, Nimes, Orange and Arles are all within easy exploring distance with the beaches of the Cote d?Azur and the Camargue accessible within around 2 hours via the Autoroute. The nearest airport is Marseille - approximately one hours drive from Roussillon. To drive by autoroute from Le Havre is around 10-12 hours.

If you visit the area in July or August and all you wish to do is relax in the sunshine, this is a lovely place to do just that but other times of the year are just as beautiful. Springtime is delightful with the cherry orchards in full bloom, the lavender fields look beautiful in June and in October the ?vendage? begins. This area is renowned for its sunshine days and blue skies all year round
