Haycroft Guest House and Equestrian Centre is a beautiful country homestead set on 70 acres of grasslands overlooking the Balgowan valley and with views of the Drakensberg. Haycroft is home to many indigenous wild flowers, birdlife and many species of buck, jackals, honey badgers, wild cat and more. Only 7 km's from Howick, close to the Karkloof nature reserve and Midmar Dam, half and hour from the Central and Southern Drakensberg, 20 minutes to Pietermaritzburg and an hour from Durban.
Haycroft has a 6 hectare well stocked bass and tilapia dam, swimming pool, floodlit tennis court and club house, equestrian centre with indoor and outdoor arena. We have qualified instructors on the property if you wish to ride in the arena or take an outride in the most beautiful woodland setting.
Haycroft offers two cosy and immaculate fully equipped cottages decorated in charming soft furnishings with DSTV, hifi, and fresh milk and muffins daily. We have a one bedroom and two bedroom cottage available for self-catering or B&B. The one bedroom cottage has a shower ensuite, fully equipped kitchen, diningroom and lounge with all the mod cons. The two bedroom cottage has a full bathroom ensuite, sep kitchen and open plan diningroom and lounge. This cottage sleeps 4 comfortably but can accommodate 6.
We have extra mattresses and cots on request. Full internet and email facilities are provided. Cottages are serviced daily.
Both cottages have private entrances and undercover parking. A full English breakfast is offered for B&B guests and dinner is provided on request.
Sunday lunch is available on the terrace overlooking the magnificent views with live classical/jazz music. Picnic baskets are provided on request.
Boats are provided for rowing on dam. Helicopter flips over the Howick falls and the Midlands can be arrangedby prior request.

Local Area Details

Haycroft is situated in the heart of the Midlands Meander, which is a winding trail of local arts and crafts, tea gardens and top class restaurants set in the most beautiful area of KwaZulu Natal. For sailing and fishing enthusiasts, Midmar Dam is only about 4 km's away. The Umgeni and Karkloof Nature Reserves are also in close proximity with abundant bird and wildlife. Haycroft is close to Howick and the Howick Falls, Tourism depot and some of the best schools in the country. Art Galleries supporting stunning colourful local art, Musical venues and local theatre, Game drives, hiking trails, mountain biking, 4x4 trails. The Drakensberg is only half and hour away with its magnificent walks, caves, bushmen paintings and the internationally acclaimed Drakensberg boys choir. Three golf courses in the area.
