Local Area Details

The village square is a short walk up the hill and is overlooked by a 14th century church. There is a nationally famous public house, licensed restaurant and splendid Post Office/Shop. Below the village is the Teign Gorge where the Fingle Bridge Inn provides refreshment in one of Devon's renowned beauty spots. Nearby are three Iron Age forts as well as the 20th century Castle Drogo built by Julius Drewe and now owned by the National Trust. Chagford , an ancient stannary town, is four miles to the south and Drewsteignton is more or less at the centre of Devon with Exeter 12 miles east and Okehampton 10 miles to the west. The north and south coasts are each about an hour's drive so all the attractions of Devon are within reach. These include three golf courses a few miles away, fly and coarse fishing.
