Comfortable B&B on the shores of the Lake of Seven Colors, Laguna Bacalar in southern Q. Roo, just half hour north of the state capital of Chetumal and the Belize border. All three guest rooms have private bathroom, AC, ceiling fans, terrace overlooking the spectacular lake, hammocks on the terrace for your siesta, and remote control local cable TVs. In the communial area you will find a refrig, microwave, blender, toaster and coffee maker for your use. Breakfast is served on the veranda over looking the sunrise and the laguna. A long 50 meter pier extends into the lake and allows access to the water. The freshwater is wonderful relief from the strong sun. Kayaks are available for rental to explore the lake. Occassional boat tours of the lake are also organized at Amigo's B&B Bacalar.

Local Area Details

Bacalar is an excellent base for exploring the south of the important Mexican state of Q. ROO ( same state as Cancun and Cozumel). Here in the south, the impressive stucco head ruins of Kohunlich are one hours drive from Bacalar, likewise the developing tourist region known as Costa Maya-Majahual Xcalak are an hour to hour half from Bacalar. The zona libre shopping area is just a short drive and like wise the impressive Archeological museum is in the capital. Locally in Bacalar there is the massive Spanish fort of San Felipe constructed by the Spanish to fight off the British in the battle for Belize. The fresh water cenote, Cenote Azul, offers bathers a refreshing dip.
