Welcome to our apartment in Puerto de la Duquesa, one of the best-kept secrets in the Costa del Sol. Puerto de la Duquesa is well situated on the road network, 10km south west of Estepona on the N340 highway, 95km from Malaga and 25 minutes from Gibraltar.Transfer from the airport is approx 45-50 minutes.

Our apartment is ground floor and a generous 80m2 with an extra 14m2 terrace and large landscaped private garden. The accommodation comprises of a lounge/dining room that extends onto the terrace and garden. From this vantage point you will enjoy both mountain and sea views. The master bedroom has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. There is also access directly to the terrace from this bedroom. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and adjacent to this is a further main bathroom.

Both bedrooms have the benefit of ample storage space. The apartment sleeps 4 people.

The kitchen is fully fitted and has everything you could need including a washing machine fridge/freezer and microwave. The lounge/dining room has a television, DVD player, radio and CD player.

This prestigious new complex has two pools set in fabulous tropical gardens. The apartment lies in a secure gated complex and has a designated parking space


It is a 10 min walk downhill to the beach and an excellent beach bar serving good food all day and evening (May - Oct). Approx 7 restaurants in Duquesa Castillo. 500 m from Castillo is Duquesa Port - there are probably 30 restaurants and bars here.

Local Area Details

Duquesa port is one of Spain's best kept secrets and is just 3 minutes walk from the apartment.

The attractive promenades encircling the port offer a variety of restaurants, intimate bars and cafés in which to while away the days.

The vast choice of eating and drinking options include French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and, of course, Spanish with its fresh, local fish.

Behind the port lies an 18 hole golf course (Duquesa Golf), designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., with fabulous views of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa.

Sabinillas

Sabinillas is a 5 minute drive from the apartment in the other direction. It is an authentic Spanish fishing village with a traditional selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

Here you can witness the daily catch of the local fisherman as they bring their boats up the beach, or simply stroll along the pretty promenade, mingling with the locals and choosing in which restaurant to have lunch!

A market is held here twice weekly and attracts visitors from far and wide.

Sabinillas has a wonderful sandy beach which is never crowded, and affords views towards Gibraltar and on a clear day, Africa.

For golfers, there are 60 courses on this coast including Valderrama (15 min drive), the venue of the 1997 Ryder Cup, San Roque and Sotogrande (15 min drive).

About Local Attrcations

You can get a taxi from the rank outside the Duquesa supermarket to Estepona for around 16 Euros, recommended if you are taking in some of the nightlife. In the hills behind Estepona is a safari park called Selwo that comes highly recommended. Allow at least half a day. The official website is in Spanish. This site at idealspain.com is more useful.Other family attractions include a combined water and theme park called Prado World with water slides, mini golf, roller-skating and other kids activities. About Driving

There are all the usual suspects (Hertz, Avis) at Malaga and Gibraltar Airports. Local car hire firms we have tried have proven reliable, punctual and clean. They meet you in the car park with the car and paperwork. About Beaches

The marina has more than 300 berths. There are no high-rise hotels here to spoil the view. The blue flag beach stretches as far as Sabanillas and on to Estepona with children’s playgrounds. On the other side, it winds around the coast to Sotogrande. The waterfront is closed to traffic and in the summer there is a street market.

About Golfing

Spain is a understandably a popular destination for golfers and there is a long tradition of golf tourism in Andalucia. There are many fabulous golf courses within easy driving of our apartment in Puerto de la Duquesa, Costa del Sol. There is something to suit all pockets and abilities. That is why the Costa del Sol is sometimes known as the 'Costa del Golf.'
