This comfortable studio is set in a beautiful and well maintained, private woodland estate, which leads onto a picturesque beach. Tranquil, but just a few minutes from the bustling seaside village of Jard sur Mer and only 18kms south of Les Sables d'Olonne.

The studio, situated on the second floor (top), provides comfortable living space but perhaps it's outstanding feature is the good-sized balcony - sunny, south-facing but secluded, looking onto woodland. The accommodation comprises a principle room furnished with sofa-bed, two easy chairs (convertable), dining table and chairs, TV/DVD, Radio/CD/cassette player. Sliding doors open onto the balcony with table and chairs for outside dining.

The separate kitchen has a hob, 'combi' microwave/grill/oven, fridge and ample crockery, cookware etc. Access directly from the kitchen to the balcony.

The bathroom has a bath with shower over, hand basin. Separate toilet.

The apartment is all electric and has wall-mounted heaters throughout for the winter months.

Pillows and duvets are supplied but guests must bring their own top & bottom sheets, pillow-cases and towels.

Bicycles are provided for guests to use.

Local Area Details

The private 'Residence' of Parc de la Grange comprises mainly small bungalows plus two apartment buildings and has the feel of a small village. It includes a hotel with restaurant & bar and has tennis courts for hire. Nestling in 50 acres of woodland, which reach down to the beach, it has a special ambiance and we feel it is one of the prettiest spots on the Vendée coast. The village of Jard sur Mer provides for all daily needs, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. It has a good tourist office and there is live entertainment at the Marina various evenings throughout the season. The whole area is unspoilt but within easy reach of towns, villages and activities to suit all tastes.

About Local Attrcations

The area around Jard sur Mer is famous for retaining its unspoilt natural beauty. The nearby 'Marais' is a haven for wildlife. Turning into river and opening to the sea at Point du Payré in a beautiful swirl of sea, sand and pine woods. Visit one or two small villages in this area which raise oysters and operate salt beds. All this can be seen by foot or bicycle. Places of interest further afield: Exotic gardens at St Cyr Talmondais; La Rochelle for the culture of an ancient city, shops, restaurants, marina and aquarium; the famous waterways of the Venise Verte; Ile de Ré. Visit Puy du Fou - impressive historical theme parc - one of the top five attractions in France and many, many more.

About Airport Information

The nearest airport is La Rochelle which is served by Ryanair from Stansted and Flybe from Birmingham. British Airways and Airfrance also offer very reasonably priced flights from UK to Nantes. Both airports are about one hours drive from the apartment.

About Golfing

Just to the north of Jard sur Mer is Port du Bourgenay, a holiday village with marina and lovely golf course, with views of the sea, which is open to visitors. There are several other golf courses within easy reach.

About Beaches

The nearest beach is just a 450 metre wander through the woods. Relatively quiet and backed by pine trees, which reach nearly to the sand, the beach is very attractive and has lovely views. The good sand gives way to rocks at low tide and, unusually, there are small coves just along the beach. A little further along, accessible on foot, or by bicycle/car is Plage des Mines, a vast sandy beach with life-guard and café in season - ideal for swimming and body-boarding. The well-known resort of Les Sables d'Olonne, just to the north, provides a large, fine, sandy beach in a protected bay. To the south, the beach of Les Conches provides a stretch of unspoilt beach backed by sand dunes and has some fine surfing waves. The popular resort of La Tranche sur Mer provides protected beaches.
