Property Details of Aquitane Farmhouse

In the rolling hills bounded by the rivers Garonne and Lot stands this fine stone farmhouse commanding superb views over open countryside. The result of a long term restoration project, Latane offers roomy accommodation fitted and furninshed to a high standard with original oaks beams carefully retained to enhance the character of the spacious rooms. A covered verandah to the front leads to an interior behind thick stone walls which is light, cool and decorated in neutral pleasing colours.

Accommodation:

Ground Floor: You reach the front door via the large 35 sq metred covered terrace. You enter the large open plan lounge/dining are with separate fully fitted kitchen. This includes washing machine, diswasher, large over and hob, microwave and fridge feezer. Generous amounts of cutlery, crockery, glassware, full matching dinner service and all necessary serving platters and bowls etc are provided. Also downstairs there is a separate shower room with WC and washand basin. In the lounge area there is TV with satelite, video, DVD, CD player with tape and radio.

First Floor: 3 Double bedrooms. Two double beds, the third room has twin beds which can be locked and zipped together to make a queen size bed.

There is a large bathroom with separate shower, bath tub with hand held shower, double sink vanity unit, wc.

Outside: Swimming pool 10 x 5 metres, with contra flow currant. Large garden overlooking splendid countryside. Own entrance, own parking, barbecue, sun beds, terrace furniture.

Linen and towels are provided. Please bring your own pool towels. If this is not possible, these can be provided locally there will be an extra small charge.

The rental cottage is the only rental at the property. The owners live in the adjoining property. Their priority is your privacy. They are on hand to provide information, give asssitance and advice.

Local Area Details

The farmhouse is just over 1 kilometre away from the 13th century Bastide village of Laparade dating from 1263. Perched 600 feet above the valley of the Lot River this walled village offers splendid panoramic views, which can be enjoyed for our local restaurant appropriately called the Panorama. Alternatively you may like to to try the Laparade weekly night market, at which local farm producers seduce you with their products including cooking for you. Tables are laid along the old rampart so that you may dine al fresco and take in the spectacular views over dinner and a glass of local wine. The larger towns of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Agen and Aiguillon form the points of a triangle around, and all worth a visit. This largely agricultural area specialises in fruit production and every local market in the summer months is colorful with apples, peaches, melons and of course the plums and prunes for which the region is especially renowed. Wine lovers can enjoy a day out visting the chateauxs's of Bordeaux, although on your doorstep, the lesser known vineyards of Duras, Buzet, Bergerac and Marmande should not be overlooked.

There area is spoilt for choice with weekly night markets. These are run by the local farm community selling and cooking their products for you. In addition each town and village has their own daily market.

A little further a field you will be spoilt for choice of restaurants in the locality. For wine lover you are spoilt for choice, with Bordeaux not far there are chateaux's abound to visit. In the local area alone there is Duras, Bergerac, Buzet and Marmande where you can sample the wine before you buy.
