Property Details of Normandy Apartment

The house can sleep up to 8 guests (plus cot) in beautiful countryside but only a 5 minute drive away from the coastline of southwest Normandy. The house has 2 large family bedrooms and a sitting room that can be used as a double bedroom. The house is a traditional stone house in the small village of Vains, overlooking the Bay of Mont Saint Michel. Under 1 hour drive from St Malo/Dinard and less than 2 from Cherbourg or Caen.

The sandy beaches of Genets, Carolles, Jullouville and St Pair sur Mer are just a short drive away. The beaches are all very popular with families as they have rock pools and shallow water. Why not take a guided walk to Mont Saint Michel - just a 5 km across the Bay...

Flexible
The house can accommodate up to 8 guests (plus cot) with 2 large family bedrooms each with double and single beds. The lounge on the ground floor has a comfortable sofa bed to become an extra double bedroom. The ground floor is designed to be accessible to wheelchair users.

Relaxing
The cottage comes equipped with modern conveniences such as a dishwasher, microwave and a laundry room to help you and your family have more time to spend on the beach. There is a dining room that easily seats 8 people and the garden patio is a perfect spot for enjoying the views.

Convenient
The village of Vains has a Tabac so guests can walk for fresh bread and croissants for breakfast. The adjoining Creperie restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. Children are welcome and there is a games room for them to enjoy. A mobile fruit & vegetable van stops in the village each Wednesday afternoon

Transport
There are regular ferry services from the UK to Caen (Ouistrium), Cherbourg and St Malo all of which are less than a 2 hour drive from the cottage. Dinard airport is just the other side of Mont Saint Michel and is about an hour’s drive away. Easy access to Paris via Granville train station

Entertainment
For younger guests there is a zoo close-by at Champrepus, an aquarium at Granville and the Reptilarium at Mont Saint Michel. Coutances, Granville and Avranches are all great places for shopping and cafes. Le manoir de Vains is the place for historians to start a tour.

Leisure
The scenic cycle route around the Bay goes past the house so it is an ideal base for a cycling or walking holiday. There are lots of stables in the area so perfect for horse riders too. Golfers and water sport enthusiasts will find a challenge in Granville.

Ideal for countryside and the beach. The nearest beaches in Genets are only a 10 min drive away. The coast all the way up towards Grandville is beautiful and includes restorts such as Saint Jean Le Thomas and Jullouville.

About Scenery/Beauty Spots

Mont Saint Michel is a 25 minute drive away from the house, but you can see the Mont from the house! You can go on a guided walk from Genets to the Mont (about 5 miles) and there are walking and cycling routes around the house down to the Bay.

About Local Restaurants

The village of Vains has its own Tabac and Creperie restaurant. The Creperie has a bar and a games room so is great for families. The food is great and reasonably priced. The tabac is only a 3 minute walk into the village so guests can order their croissants and bread and collect it each day (except mondays).

About Walking
