This Cowichan Valley, Southern Vancouver Island Bed & Breakfast Accommodation is a 2800 sq.ft., three level Chalet-style Bed & Breakfast located on a small secluded acreage 5 minutes south of Shawnigan Lake Village, and 35 minutes north of Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Our charming country home is furnished with a sense of west coast Vancouver Island history ( we even have a museum room), accommodations include three comfortable rooms. One with ensuite and a Juliette balcony, the other two share a bath. The B&Bs guest rooms are located on the second and third floors. Our shared guest lounge 'The Thirsty Bear' offers its' own deck, TV/VCR, CD player,fridge,microwave and wet bar facilities with self serve coffee or tea. Relax in the natural surroundings of Shawnigan Lake with an afternoon refreshment on one of the four decks, a birdwatchers paradise on Southern Vancouver Island.

Take a hike to the Last Spike! Just a few minutes walk out the door of our Bed & Breakfast takes you to Cliffside, the site where Prime Minister Sir John A. MacDonald drove the last spike of the E&N Railroad in 1886.From this point you can also take a day-trip up Island on the train. A few minutes in the other direction takes you to the east shore of Shawnigan Lake. You are also just a short drive to the seashore.
The Cowichan Valley has many Wineries offering wine tours & several golf courses. Also opportunities for horseback riding, antiquing, fishing, cycling, hiking, swimming and kayaking.
Or... relax at our B&B's country acreage with a fire-pit, picnic area and informal gardens amongst old Arbutus trees.
Make Shadowcatcher B&B your home base for day-trips over the scenic Malahat Drive through Goldstream Park to Victoria for sightseeing and shopping, or go Island-hopping to Saltspring or Thetis Island. Victoria's World-famous Butchart Gardens is a short ferry ride or scenic drive away.
