Property Details of Aquitane Gite
This traditional 17th century farmhouse is set in the heart of the French countryside in a quiet country lane surrounded by fields of sunflowers and orchards.
Here you will find peace and quiet to unwind and time to enjoy your favourite pastimes, walking, cycling, fishing in the nearby lake or just relaxing by the pool reading a favourite book.
Les Hirondelles is part of the owners house, but is completely self-contained with its own entrance and car parking space, small garden and terrace with patio table and chairs .
The house has been very well renovated by the English owners and is equipped to a high standard, the accommodation, (which is all on the ground floor) comprises of one large double bedroom, kitchen/living room and a recently completed well appointed fully tiled bathroom complete with walk in shower, toilet, bidet and wash basin.
The modern fitted kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, microwave oven, dishwasher and fridge freezer, the kitchen/living room opens directly onto the outside terrace which has its own dining area complete with gas barbeque.
In the grounds there is a 10m x 5m swimming pool with roman steps at one side (for easy access), terrace and underwater lighting and pool furniture on the terraces. There are no other properties on the site, therefore, the pool is shared only with the owners.

Local Area DetailsAllemans du Dropt:- is our local village and here in the pretty village square with its ancient plum market can be found the family run Hotel L’Etape Gasconne, here you can enjoy excellent food and local wines at lunchtime or during the evening at very reasonable prices. In the village there is also a bakers, post office, pharmacy, small supermarket, tabac, craft shop and tourist information office.
In the area there are also many good restaurants ranging from local good food to haute cuisine.
Miramont:- with a good range of shops is just 8 kilometres away, and has a lively market on Mondays which is well worth a visit and there is a major supermarket on the outskirts of the town although you can buy your morning croissants at Allemans just a short 2 kilometres bike ride away.
Marmande:- just twenty minutes by car in the other direction, is the large local town, it has a very interesting market on Saturdays and others during the week, the town has two cinemas, a museum and many good quality shops and restaurants and mainline railway station.
From Les Hirondelles you can visit the chateaux and bastides of the western Dordogne region, the vineyards of Bergerac, Duras and St.Emilion and the many attractions of the central Dordogne, Sarlat, Lascaux and Domme all of which are under a two hour drive.
Bergerac airport is serviced by direct flights from London Stanstead (Ryan Air) and Southampton (BE, British European) is only 25 mins in the car.
Additional InformationAbout Airport InformationBergerac Airport is just a 30 minute drive from the house and is served by both Ryan Air and Flybe, there are now direct low cost flights from several airports in the UK.
Bordeaux Airport is 1hr 30 minutes from the house and also has direct flights from many UK airports.
Car hire is available from both of these airports.
