Situated in the lovely medieval town of Duras with its magnificent Chateau, in a semi-pedestrianised street, the cottage has large living room with very comfortable three-piece suite, large pine dining table, lots of books, music centre with records and tapes, TV with satellite reception and video recorder (we've recorded about 60 English videos of films, comedies, documentaries etc so we hope you like the selection) The ground floor has terra cotta tiled floor and a wrought-iron curved stairway leading to second floor which has kitchen with buffet bar and two bedrooms each with a double bed- although one is a traditional 'Dordogne' honeymoon bed and more like a three-quarters than a double ! Local Area Details

Duras has a farmer's market in the streets each Monday a joy to behold. Many fetes and activities take place throughout the Summer to cater for the locals and visitors alike. The Chateau has wonderful views of the rolling hills, vineyards and farms surrounding the town. Nearby are many medieval villages each having a market on a different day plus there are small restaurants still run by Grandma with wonderful local produce
(details of the ones we've found in the house- please add to the list if you find more) The area is full of World renowned wine producer's domains with free tastings, river trips, significant prehistory sites, horse-riding, museums, hypermarkets, farm produce (pate de foie gras)the town tourist office will supply lots of information.
