Resort - Well-known lively holiday resort, situated 63 km from Grenoble (Railway station). Lots to do in this typical French resort: hang-gliding, tennis, squash, swimming, horse riding, general sports, fitness centre, good selection of restaurants and bars, a few discos, cinema.
6 cable cars, 10 gondolas, 25 chair lifts, 46 drag lifts. 230 km of marked ski pistes and 115 runs, ski school, children's ski school, 50 km of cross country ski trail. Alpe is a modern lively resort in the winter combining top quality high altitude skiing with plenty of other activities day and night. There is glacier skiing, snowboarding, snow scooters, ice climbing, snow shoe walks and paragliding. In December 2004 the Marmotte III cable car opens a new route to the Sarenne glacier. There is extensive off piste skiing, one of the world's longest black runs, plenty of wide intermediate runs and good nursery areas for beginners. The main Visalp lift pass includes the use of many facilities and the freee ski bus. Apres ski is lively with bars galore; the restaurants are plentiful and later music pubs, discos and night clubs get underway.
