Beautiful country cottage, in tranquille location without being isolated.
Ideal for a family holiday as there are 9 acres of grounds and gardens and a large 16x14m swimming pool, with a safe shallow end. There is a Jacuzzi Hot Tub!(For the adults only)

The cottage is fully equipped with everything you might need for a relaxing break, just pack a bag. We provide books, toys, games, table-tennis, badminton, cricket, boules and there is a tree house and swings. The pool has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas as well as inflatables. There are also many quiet spots to enjoy peace and a glass of local wine.

The cottage is on the same site as our own house where we offer bed and breakfast and table d'hote. However, everyone has their space and privacy, or sociability if you want it. As we live on site we can offer a taxi service to local restaurants or childminding services. We also do meal deliveries and we'll wash up too!

We can organise winetastings at local vineyards and have wine for sale on site. Morning breadruns and newspapers are also available.


There is Wifi Internet access and a laptop computer.

The cottage has a wheelchair accessible bedroom with en-suite. A wheel in shower chair is available.

About History

We are located near the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of St.Emilion and Bordeaux. St.Emilion is a medieval town dating back to the 9th Century and full of historic buildings beautifully preserved, a visit to the catacombs under the city is very informative and visually stunning. St.Emilion is also of course the main centre of the wine making region. You can visit Chateux and taste wine, book yourselves in to the Wine School to learn more about the way to taste and the different varieties available. Great fun. Bordeaux has undergone a massive makerover in the past 5 years and is now restored to its former glories of the 17th & 18th century. A new tram system has been installed making it very easy to get to and get around in. If you like shopping this is the place to come, it has the longest shopping avenue in Europe!

About Airport Information

Bordeaux airport is just 55kms from us and flights arrive there from Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, London, Dublin, Nice and Paris. Bergerac airport is only 33kms and is served by many low cost airlines, flybe, ryanair from numerous UK airports. Flights also come from Rotterdam 3 times a week.

About Family Activities

As well as our own site family activities, such as table tennis, boules, badminton, croquet, rounders and football there are also plenty of things do do in the area. Tetacap, tree top slides and walkways is a great energy burner. There is a themepark Walabi with log flumes, scary rides and water rides, prepare to get very wet!!

About Walking

We are situated in unspoilt countyside with forests and vineyards. There are many pre-designated walks as well as others. If you like walking or rambling you will not be disappointed. Organised rambles are also available on set dates.

About Local Attrcations

History surrounds us here from Roman mosaic museums, the Hundred Years War and the demarkation line during the Second World War. Montcaret (1.5kms) has uncovered a wonderful Roman villa in the churchyard and exposed some beautiful floor mosaics, this is open all year round. The last battle of the Hundred Years War took place in the valley we over look, and at Castillon la Bataille they re-enact the final battle with the English (the French win!)over various weekend throughout July and August. It is a spectacle with 500 players, ending in a firework display.

About Shopping

Bordeaux is the place for top quality shops but if you like markets we have them everyday of the week in various towns and villages. Vide Greniers (Empty your atic) are always good fun and many small and large bargains can be found at these, usually Sundays.

About Ferries

Ferry ports on the Normandy and Brittany coasts are about 5-600 kms from us but the roads are very good and the drive an easy one. There is also a ferry to San Sebastian in Spain which is around 5 hours drive. Stop on route and make the journey part of the holiday.
