A land of history and legend
Welcome to the Tarn et Garonne! This idyllic region of south west France is regarded as one of the most beautiful and yet is largely undiscovered by the regular holiday maker.
The climate during the summer months is wonderful, typical of southern France with plenty of sunshine, often from April through to October and lovely warm evenings enabling you to eat under the stars. Expect temperatures well into the thirties during July and August.

Langans is ideally situated in the centre of a tiny hamlet and makes the ideal base for exploring the spectacular countryside. The area is absolutely steeped in history with tiny villages and bastide fortified towns tucked away in the middle of nowhere and seemingly forgotten by the modern world.

What do we offer?

Ideal facilities for small parties, two families with children in high season and groups (painting classes, travellers for the Compostella route, etc etc) all year round (please ask for availability).
Prices include gas, electricity, bedlinnen and towels. We only ask you to bring your own swimming pool towels.


The owners - Ellen and Matthew - are living in the second part of the manor and are very willing to be of any assistance to make sure your stay is a great one.

The gite has its own entrance to ensure complete privacy.

After entering at the end of the hall there is the former wine press room which is converted into a spacious dining room/kitchen area and a den with entrance to the terrace and swimming pool.
Kitchen and den
The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and spin dryer. In the den a radio/CD player is available.

Pool and terrace
The terrace has a large alfresco area with fixed barbecue and large dining table. Deck chairs and other furniture are plentiful.
The swimming pool has Roman steps for easy access and is partly shaded by trees like bamboo and eucalyptus.

Garden
A secluded garden provides full privacy.

Upstairs the first floor provides three double bedrooms overlooking garden and pool (two ensuite with shower/toilet/washing basin and one ensuite with bath/toilet/washing basin).
The second floor provides a double bedroom and a twin bedded room with a bathroom ensuite (with bath/toilet/washing basin).

Local Area Details

Visit the magnificent Cloisters at Moissac, shop in fashionable Toulouse ("Paris of the south of France") or taste wines at Cahors. Spend a morning hunting out the most gloriously fresh produce at one of the many local markets, followed by a round of golf.

Cycle along deserted country lanes which wind up and down between fields of sunflowers, or go fishing at the local lake. You could spend the day touring the route of the Bastides and stopping off for a lunch in an auberge for as little as £ 6 per head, or treat yourself to a gastronomic feast in an 18th century Chateau.

There is horse riding, sailing, fishing or for the more adventurous micro light flying and white water canoeing.

Whether its Churches or Cathedrals, a simple pigeonnier or the most magnificent Chateau, you will never cease to be impressed and fascinated with this magical land.

Where will you find Langans?

In the middle of the tiny hamlet Fajolles opposite the boule park and dating back almost three hundred years, Langans has been converted from an original bourgeois country house with separate storehouse/winepress and sympathetically restored retaining original features into a lovely property containing a substantial independent gite, Le Pressoir.
Situated in idyllic countryside of Fajolles, close to fabulous Moissac and watersports centre St Nicolas de la Grave and with great cities like Montauban, Toulouse and Albi not far away. For longer trips the gite is ideally situated: the Pyrenees, Basque country, Dordogne, Mediterranee, Atlantic coast are all within 2-3 hours range.

In the neighbourhood

Castelsarrasin (10 mins) - nice little town with some good restaurants. Great market Thursday

Moissac (15 mins) - old town with beautiful church and cloister. Good restaurants. Nice square viewing the cloister with outside dining often with music. Great market Saturday and Sunday

Beaumont de Lomagne (15 mins) - centre of garlic area. Watersports. Market Saturday

St Nicolas de la Grave (10 mins) - Centre of watersports (rivers Tarn and Garonne join). Nice little museum Cadillac. Small but cozy market Monday

Montauban (25 mins) - nice old centre with extensive walking area. Great shops, good restaurants. Beautiful old square with outside lunching and dining often with music. Nice cathedral and museum des Ingres

Toulouse (45 mins) - Paris of the south. Beautiful centre with great shops and all culture possible. Space museum and Airbus Industries are very worth-while visiting.

Montech (15 mins) - starting point for a tour on the Canal du Midi

Do not forget to bring your bikes as the area is just great for biking (from relatively flat to steep parts). Bike renting in the area is possible
