This spectacular lake-front property is located in Stresa, Lake Maggiore, just 45 minutes away from Malpensa Airport, in the opposite direction of Milan.
This large, four floor, 8 bedroom villa was built in 1903 by the Ricordi Family. Originally named Villa Glicine, it is now known by the locals as Villa Ricordi.
Ideal also for small group meetings and family reunions.
- The piano terra, ground floor, has a garage with covered parking for three cars, storage space and a cantina.
- The first floor, has a fully-equipped eat-in kitchen, living room with fireplace and piano, an organ, an antique billiard room with a sound system, television room and powder room. There is also a large terrace with a spectacular view that has a stone table that seats 12, which we use for our main meals.
- The second floor, has two master bedrooms with baths that have beautiful lake views, a childrens bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed, two bedrooms with queen-sized beds and a shared bath, and a small bedroom with twin beds. There is also a laundry room.
- The third floor is more sporty, as it was formerly the servants quarters, with two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed, one with a double bed, and two shared bathrooms.
The house has a large water front walled-in garden that contains many exotic trees and flowering plants and both shaded and sunny lawn areas. Stairs lead down to swimming, fishing and sunning area by the lake.
The most valued feature of this property is the fabulous view of the three islands (Isole Borromeo) and surrounding mountains. The foothills of the Alps with the high peaks in the background complete the breathtaking vista that is gorgeous by day and also very romantic at sunset and during the night.

Local Area Details

The town of Stresa is a 10-minute walk along a newly restored promenade.
Another 10-minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to the gondola for a ride to the top of Mottarone.
The train station is a 2-minute car ride from the house. It is on a major north-south line that will take you into Milano in 1 hour, or across the Alps, all the way to Paris, in the opposite direction.
We have a few things we like to do every time we come to Stresa: The first is to visit the islands. Each one is a unique experience and deserves a visit. Isola Madre has a beautiful garden with menagerie of exotic birds. The villa has period rooms and collections of costumes, dolls and arms. Isola Bella has the palace of the noble Borromeo family open to the public during the day. We prefer Isola Pescatori, which is an actual fishermens village packed on to an island no longer than two city blocks. Unlimited day trips and excursions,from the Alps (eg Monte Rosa Glacier, Zermat)to Venice.

there are two very important Golf Clubs in the vicinity: L'Alpino and Iles des Borromees Golf Club: Golf Club des Iles Borromées has a strategic position. It is found in the heart of the Lake Maggiore, 45 minutes from Milan, 6 km from Stresa, and less than 2 km from the (A26) Highway exit of Carpugnino, immerse in the beautiful nature around it. In and around the Lake Maggiore area you will find eight golf courses in the range of 30 km, one of the highest concentration in Italy. The Golf course situated 500 metres above the sea level, with a southerly exposure, fresh during the Summer and sunny in Winter, is open all year execpt January. Between June and September included we are open seven day a week, during the other months we are closed on Mondays. You will find 18 holes, with foreshortenings of rare beauty on the lakes and mountains that sorround it, to be played with amusement and skill. A Club House cosy and confortable , with a restaurant open at your service; driving range , putting green, 30 electric golf carts, golf sets and tolleys to hire complete the Club services.
