Local Area DetailsLisdoonvarna, in North Clare lies in the heart of the Burren region, just 6 km from the coast, and is Ireland’s only active spa center in Ireland. The town became famous for its matchmaking festival in September, and for the Victorian Spa in the picturesque setting on the banks of the river Aille.
Now Lisdoonvarna is a thriving small town but retains its old world ambiance and charm. This is an area of numerous ancient sites and historic remains including Ring Forts in the vicinity dating from the Iron Age. As a holiday base your home at Dun Brendain is just perfect. The small development of 16 houses which feature timber and stone cladding, are set in a lovely landscaped area just 50 metres from the center of town. The town itself has many shops and pubs featuring traditional music, and serving excellent food. You can sample the delights of wild Irish smoked salmon at the Burren Smokehouse.
The Victorian Spa and complex offers sulphur baths, the therapeutic mineral waters having been dispensed here since the 18th century. Lisdoonvarna is an excellent base for specialist activities in the Burren including painting and botony. Doolin is just 6km away and is a charming small seaside village famous for its traditional Irish Music and from where you can catch the ferry to the Aran Islands. The Famous Cliffs of Moher are just further up the coast, and just beyond is beautiful Fanore Strand with its wonderful sandunes, perfect for swimming and beach picnics. Other activities in the area include fishing, burren walks, horseriding, and golf at Lahinch and Doonbeg.

| A booking is not confirmed until the deposit of 50% ( or payment in full )has been received along with a completed reservation form. Final payment 10 weeks before arrival.A SECURITY DEPOSIT of 200 per house must be given to the supervisor on arrival. A higher deposit maybe required if more than one property is recerved by customers. In the unlikely event of damage to the property or its contents, the cost of replacements or repairs will be deducted from the security deposit after consultation with the supervisor. Final cleaning is included in the rental charge, however a charge of ?20 would be levied if the property is not returned in a tidy condition. Properties will be available on the date of arrival between 16.00 hours and 21.00 hours and the property must be vacated at 10.00 hrs on the date of departure. Arrival time outside these hours must be by prior arrangement with the supervisor. Failure to notify the supervisor of late arrivals could result in keys not being available. No pets are allowed in any property under any circumstance unless expressly advertised as being a pet friendly location.
Electricity is charged at €5 per day June / July/ August; €8 per day rest of year. Towels are available for hire at €2 per set (1 hand towel and 1 bath towel) payable to the supervisor. |
