You bring your own linen but this can be supplied on request.

Enjoy the estuary beach for the long walks or the surf beach with the surf patrol for the adventurous swimming, surfing or surf skiing. Five beaches surround Mangawhai with the long white sand of Te Arai stretching for 34 kms. All beach sports are possible. Fishing near the Hen and Chickens Islands is always fruitful. Dominating the landscape is the big sand dune.We watch the movement of the sand as it changes height going down and the up again with each passing storm. Tranquil days at Mangawhai give one an image of paradise. The golf club with its 900 members is a major attraction. Most members live in the city of Auckland coming up the 90mins on a Friday night to stay in their baches (holiday houses) It is an all weather course counted amongst the top 20 in New Zealand. The restaurants are also very good as are the fish and chips. The best glass and pottery craft shop in NZ is in Mangawhai owned by well recognised NZ crafts people. The local hand crafted chocolate is also in high demand.Mangawhai is easy distance to the Bay of Islands and Paihia. Visiting the Matakohoe 45mins kauri museum gives the visitor a real taste of life early last centuary.
