Olvera is a fabulous base for your break in the Real Spain close at hand are a huge variety of activities for both young and older people for the adventurous and amblers alike Activities include Watersports Birdwatching Walking Cycling Horseriding Fishing Climbing Paragliding Hangliding Wildlife and Sites of Natural Interest Innumerable Sites of Historical and Architectural Interest Olvera is one of the 14 recognised White Villages of Andalucia a pretty very friendly town of about 10000 inhabitants perched on top of a hill which can be seen from many miles around and which boasts the beautiful Neoclassical Church the Iglesia Parroquial de Ntra Sra de la Encarnacion at the summit in the Plaza de Iglesia Close by is the Castle currently undergoing extensive renovation together with the Castle Museum and Gift Shop which are already open and the local Tourist Office The views from everywhere in Olvera are just magnificent Below the Church and inside the Castle walls youll discover the smallest of streets untouched by modernisation In the Plaza de Andalucia is a magnificent new modern waterfall Above the waterfall can be found the Waterfall Gardens a small Aviary and at the top of the Gardens is the Mirador beautiful view or look out point There are lots of other small parks plazas and viewing points all over Olvera where you could sit rest chat while away the time Come down from the Gardens back to the plaza try the bar in the plaza they serve great meals and tapas There are friendly and welcoming bars and restaurants to suit every taste The prices are unbelievably low and the local cuisine is absolutely delicious everywhere The local shops provide everything you need from daily requirements to gifts and local produce Towards the bottom of the town on Vereda Ancha No 84 can be found Esencia Oliva part of the Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza making and selling a wide range of natural products and cosmetics based on virgin olive oil and essential oils and fragrances perfect gifts to take home or to treat yourself Olvera is well known for its excellent olive oil and it is still the main source of agricultural income in the area The Ferias and Fiestas should not be missed go to wwwandaluciacom for a fiesta calendar
