16thC Grade 11 listed Elworth Farmhouse Cottage has been awarded a 4 star rating Gold Award by Visit Britain (Tourist Board). Set in the heart of Hardy's Wessex close to the Heritage Coast, the cottage is situated in the ancient farming hamlet of West Eloworth, not far from Abbotsbury Swannery & Sub-tropical Gardens. The hamelt is a rural haven comprising of only six dwellings together with a small dairy farm. The cottage is early 16thC and was once the original farmhouse but is now the thatched wing of the main 17thC farmhouse - it is however, completely self-contained, having its own 'front' and 'back' doorways. Although fully modernised, it still retains many or its original features; exposed oak beams, a very impressive inglenook fireplace, antique washbown and bread-oven. Furnishings are of a high standard and sympathetic to a period cottage. An organic 'welcome pack' is provided to greet you on arrival. You are welcome to relax and unwind in our extensive grounds which include our private outdoor heated swimming pool with hot tub, badminton court, gardens and orchards with waterfowl. Garden furniture is available in various places around the grounds so that you may enjoy the environment. Elworth hamlet is a walker's paradise with footpaths in all directions. The Dorset Coast Path runs along the top of the hill above the hamlet leading down into Abbotsbury village 2 miles away. The views from the coast path along the Heritage coast are simply stunning - eastwards towards Lulworth & Ringstead Bay, Portland and Chesil Bank and westwards across Lyme Bay. We regret we are unable to extend our hospitality to children under 12 years of age.
