Local Area DetailsBENAJARAFE is a small district situated on the eastern side of Spain's costa del sol. Its location,
some 14 kilometres from the regions capital, Malaga, lies within the area known as Axarquia.
Situated on the coast, between Rincon de la Victoria and Torre del Mar, it enjoys one of the best
climates in Europe. The unique combination of sun an sea, makes it almost tropical.
To get to this magnificent location, take the autovia del Mediterraneo (E-15), starting at Malaga and
heading in the direction of Almeria. It is part of the municipality of Velez-Malaga, a town to the
northeast of our village.
BENAJARAFE is about 25 minutes to NERJA that boasts 16 kilometres of beaches with powdery sand
and sparkling clear water. All major water sports are available here, including water skiing, scuba diving
and sailing.
However, the heart of Nerja is its spectacular Balcon de Europa, the "Balcony of Europe", a magnificent
promenade along the edge of a towering cliff, once the side of the Moorish castle, with sweeping
panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the small coves and beaches below against an awesome
back drop of hazy blue mountains.
There are plenty of restaurants and cafes here to choose from, and the visitor can hire a horse-drawn
carriage to explore the most romantic corner of the town.
