Pant-Teg is set high above the Teifi Valley, on the lower slopes of the Cambrian Mountains, between Tregaron (5miles - an old market town and Red Kite centre) and Lampeter (6 miles - a university town). This area of mid Wales will enchant you with its gentle mountains and unspoilt coastline, encircling pastureland threaded with rivers famous for sewin and salmon.

Pant-Teg (fair hollow), dating from about 1850 and originally a hill farm, rests in 4 acres of peaceful gardens for you to explore, with numerous benches to sit and relax whilst enjoying the magnificent valley views. The gardens are suited to wildlife, full of beautiful and unusual shrubs and flowers, and the ponds awash with lilies and various water loving plants and grasses. In our top field, a young wood has been planted, down to the banks of a pond stocked with tench and rud, full of butterflies, dragonflies, newts, frogs and all manner of small mammals.
Pant-Teg Country House has developed over the years from farmhouse to Welsh long house with one half devoted to the comfort and privacy of our guests, accommodating up to 4 adults (unsuitable for children under 12)
in 2 spacious en suite bedrooms with a large guest lounge.

The Red Room is on the upper floor and has a kingsize bed
With en suite bath, shower, toilet & hand basin.

The Gold Room is on the lower floor and has a choice of twin or kingsize bed (zip linked)
With an en suite walk-in shower, toilet & hand basin.

Both bedrooms have dressing tables, a comfortable seating area, TV, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, beverage tray, complimentary fresh fruit and chocolates, tourist information leaflets and maps.

The guest lounge is on the first floor thereby taking advantage of the magnificent valley views. There are 2 large comfy sofas and a log burner for those colder days, TV, DVD, CD, Clavinova piano, guitar, a selection of board games and a varied selection of books.

Traditional Welsh breakfasts and evening meals are served in the dining room which over looks the garden and where you will see numerous varieties of birds at the feeders. All our meals are prepared from locally sourced and often organic produce, our own fresh eggs and homemade bread.

On arrival you will be welcomed with tea or coffee and home made cakes or biscuits.

Unfortunately we cannot take dogs in the house as we have 2 cats, Frank & Mysza, although in our self catering Cottage they are most welcome.
There is no smoking in the house and guests are respectfully requested to smoke in the grounds only.

Local Area Details

Birdwatching: The nature reserves of Cors Caron (the world's largest upland bog), Dinas and Ynys Hir.
Walking: From rambling to the more demanding walks, both countryside and coastal.
Horse-riding: The heartland of Welsh cob breeding. Monthly horse sales at Llanybydder, trotting races at Tregaron and Synod Inn, Cae Iago stables Ffarmers - 6 miles.
Cycling: From cycles to mountain bikes to motorbikes. On or off road tracks. Nant-Yr-Arian forest, Rheidol and many other trails.
Canoeing: On the Teifi and see the famous coracle men of Cenarth.
Fishing: There are numerous stocked pools for coarse and fly fishing in the area. Several angling associations authorise fishing on the River Teifi. Permits may be purchased at the Post Office.
Golf: Llangybi course - 4 miles.
The Coast: Ceredigion's 52 mile coastline with safe, sandy beaches, spectacular walks, aquariums, marine life, dolphins and seals, stretches from Cardigan to Aberystwyth - 23 miles away, a university town and thriving arts centre.
Houses & Gardens: National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Aberglasney ("a garden lost in time"), Cae Hir Gardens, Llanerchaeron (house & garden).
Historic Sites: Such as the Roman goldmine at Pumpsaint - 10 miles.
Arts & Crafts: Woollen mills, potteries. galleries and shops in Lampeter and Tregaron.
Railways: Rheidol railway from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge and several other small gauge trains.
