Local Area Details

The center of the Taranaki region of New Zealand is Mount Taranaki, snow-covered in winter, and offering many hiking trails in the summer. Taranaki is also known for its annual (Spring) Rhodoendron Festival where over 60 private gardens are opened for touring. The region also offers excellent surfing, fishing, and golfing, as well as art galleries and museums. New Plymouth's population is approximately 50,000 and extends a warm welcome to all visitors.
