Situated in its own gated grounds, 'Chez Bardi, is characteristically Provençal in style and provides an ideal situation for easy outdoor summer living. Surrounded by a stone wall with large gates for privacy, there is secure parking in the grounds of the house. You can soak up as much sun as you wish around the pool or on the lawn, then relax on the shady, covered terrace for those important alfresco meals.
It is only a few minutes' stroll to the small community of Plan d'Orgon, which whilst simple, has several restaurants in all price ranges, two boulangeries, a butcher, mini-market, baker, chemist and doctors, also a tennis court. Just 4 kms away is the typical Provencal town of Cavaillon, with supermarkets, shops, restaurants and a weekly street market.
The house’s location is perfect for visiting the highlights of Provence. For example delightful St Rémy de Provence, with specialist boutiques and restaurants, is only a 10 minute drive. As well as many beautiful little villages nearby, the splendid towns of Arles and Aix en Provence can be easily visited. Summer festivals and concerts abound in the area. Mediterranean beaches (Fos-sur-Mer and Carry-le-Rouet) are a 50 minute drive, the bustling port of Marseille with an international airport, one hour.
The sunny 200 sq m garden with 5m x 9m swimming pool (1.2 – 2m in depth) has a lawn planted with trees and plenty of space for children to play. The pool has a laser alarm for security and The Pool House has a handy shower and WC.
The dining/sitting room, shaded by the terrace roof and plane tree, is a comfortably furnished, cool area to spend hot summer afternoons. It has a good quality sofa, armchair etc., plus some typically Provençal furniture such as a superb armoire. There is a fireplace with exposed stones, plenty of exposed beams and a stylish stone-built bar with sink. The well equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave etc, and there is a separate utilities room with washing machine, iron, ironing board, also a WC with hand wash basin.
French doors open from the sitting room to the large, tiled terrace with dining setting overlooking the garden and pool. An enormous, century old plane tree provides welcome shade to the terrace for the summer.
A timber staircase leads up to the three bedrooms, each with a double bed, the bathroom (bath and overhead shower) and second separate WC, all leading off a landing. NB: All beds are double but single beds can be provided if required, also a cot for a baby.
There is a TV with satellite (English channels, ie BBC etc), CD/radio/cassette player and a telephone for incoming calls and local emergency numbers. Pre-paid phone cards (available at local shops) can be used for outgoing calls.
Local Area DetailsThe house is situated on the edge of the small commune of Plan d'Orgon with restaurants and essential shops and 4 kms from the typical Provencal town of Cavaillon, with supermarkets, shops, restaurants and a weekly street market. Avignon is only 20 kms away. The closest international airports are Marseille 60 kms, or Nimes 60 km. There are train stations at Cavaillon and Avignon.
The location is ideal for visiting most of the highlights of Provence, including the 'Year in Provence' villages of M�nerbes, Roussillon, Gordes etc. Delightful St R�my de Provence, with specialist boutiques and restaurants, is only a 10 minute drive, Mediterranean beaches 45 minutes. There are many typical Provencal markets in the area, including St R�my, Apt and the antique market of L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Close to Chateauneuf du Pape and Cotes du Rhone vineyards for superb wine tasting outings.
