Borgo di Vagli is the result of a ten year restoration project by renowned Heritage architect Fulvio di Rosa to the highest standards in accordance with Tuscany's legal preservation requirements. It maintains as faithfully as possible its medieval feel, atmosphere and look, without compromising modern day comforts and needs. Tucked away in the hills 20 minutes from the Etruscan town of Cortona, (made famous by Frances Mayes best selling book and movie "Under the Tuscan Sun") this 32 acre Hamlet of 11 rustic, beautiful stone dwellings and converted outbuildings dating from the 14th century is located in a large protected area nestled among olive groves, fruit trees and ancient oaks. The panoramic views are some of the most breathtaking in Tuscany and includes Pierle Castle, which dates back to the 10th century. Members and their guests can look forward to the bustle of the marketplace and the irresistible sights and smells of freshly harvested ingredients, legendary wines, cheeses, and olive oil, and unspoiled views under crystal-clear skies, sun-drenched days and leisurely nights under a brilliant blanket of stars.
. The interiors are truly Tuscan with multiple layers of plaster tinted yellow, salmon, old rose, green or blue, patiently applied with a 15 inch trowel. Flagstones and handmade terra-cotta tiles are on the floors. Ceilings have heavy wood beams. Furnishings are a mix of modern Italian upholstery fabrics and humble, pitch perfect country antiques from shops in Arezzo, Siena and Florence, chosen by Fulvio himself.
