5 en-suite bedrooms for 10 guests with twin beds and 1 double bed, a large sitting and dinning room of 55 m² with a big open chimney, living room, kitchen and 2 guest WCs at the ground floor. Authentic furniture throughout. Private garden of 2800 m², garden furniture, swings (for children), barbecue, private swimming pool of 10 X 4.16 meters. Great for holidays with your family / friends for 1 day, 1 week-end, 1 week or more. Our hamlett is 1,4 km from the village of La Caillère.The double bed at the groundfloor can be replaced by 1 or 2 single beds (on demand for wheelchair user). The swimming pool cleaned every day is in a closed area. Access time: 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 PM. You can fish in our pond of 45 m X 40 m. Our land is a organic land. Next to the cottage is a big prairie if you like to play fottball. Dogs and cats are allowed - as are other animals - but by prior agreement, so please ask first!

Local Area Details

You can practise tennis in La Caillère and Sérigné (5 km) , horse riding next to our place, fish in our pond, in La Caillère and around. In La Caillère whe have doctor, dentist, pharmacy, pizzeria, a small hotel, 1 gasoline station at the same time it’s a “café” selling also tobacco (newspaper…), butcher, fish shop, a "Spar" selling food, wines etc... and 1 bakery. We have a nice church from the 11th century, also many places with trees and more especially drill of chestnuts with 5 pedestrian paths (4, 6, 8 and 14 km). Also the way used for the “pélerinage of St Jacques de Compostelle” pass in La Caillère and next to the cottage. Many villages all around have summer fetes where you’ll enjoy at least twice a week to stay and see fireworks, local customs festivities, exhibitions, dance, dinner … etc…
We are 18 km from Fontenay-le-Comte, 12 km from La Chataigneraie, 14 km from Chantonnay, 12 km from Sainte-Hermine and 70 km from La Rochelle (about 1h15' to 1h40' hours drive).LE MARAIS POITEVIN: The swamp of Poitou covers 15,000 hectares with 40,000 km of channels with the “VENISE VERTE” (Green Venice), an old and again now well maintained canal system after the Vendée, the “Pays de la Loire” and the European Community spent the 5 years tremendous amount of money to have the channels and the rivers cleaned and consolidated, stop the lose of water. 5 small ports were renovated. Beautiful boat tours in small boats are organised at Damvix, Maillé, Maillezais, Le Mazeau and Saint-Sigismond. You can rent a flat ground boat and conduct it yourself or you can have a guide.
ABBEY OF MAILLEZAIS: This historical monument is located at 3 Km South East from Fontenay-le-Comte. The abbey was built in 1003 on a island of "le Golfe des pictons " . This Benedictine abbey, necropolis of the 3 dukes of Aquitaine has a unique roman architecture in the Poitou-Saintonge and the author Rabelais lived also in this bishopric (1523). Agrippa d’Aubigné transformed this place into a Protestant fortress (1587 – 1620).
In 1791 the place became a career and a lot of the stones, part of the Abbey, where taken by farmers and other people to build their houses during the "Guerres de Vendée" (War of the Vendée). Today the gothic bays wrecks evoke the majestic proportion of this Cathedral and you can easily imagine the proportion of this construction. 7 halls are used as a museum as also for small exhibitions. Excravations continue to be done.
The « FUTUROSCOPE » (115 km FROM HERE).: This unique place in Europe of the imaging, no comparable place exist in Europe show you many different types of image projections on a 360 degree projection screen, at the Kinémax a flat screen of 600 m2, l’Omnimax, the magic carpet with 2 giant screens of 700 m_ disposed vertically and horizontally) etc...In one of the film projection area, the floor is made with transparent glass plates and the film is all around you but also with picture that extends underneath you.
LA ROCHELLE ( 70 km FROM HERE): A very nice town with a port and fortifications and is known for its historical influence and also because of the atmosphere you’ll find there. The Marina is one of Europe largest aquarium. Being in La Rochelle then you should visit and spend time at the fish market. The port is attractive, peaceful and waterside cafes and restaurants offer relaxing breaks and good food with nice seafood platters. Big choice at competitive prices! Near of LA ROCHELLE is “L’île de Ré”t.
Puy du Fou (38 km from here): This famous near "Les Herbiers" is known internationally. There you have a show unique in the world done in the first historical and ecological park in Europe.
At the heart of the theme park of Puy du Fou, flanked with towers, lies a real feudal enclosure from whence rise the sounds of a busy marketplace. You’ll see the herbalist, the glassblower, the stone carver and the manuscript illuminator etc.... A medieval city from the 18th century was reconstructed. The spectacles is shown on 3 hectares of countryside with display of falconry show and also a superb show of horsemanship and stunt riding. You will enjoy the spectacle of the « guerres de Vendée ». Many of the 3 500 actors are local people coming from neighbours villages.
Nantes (89 km FROM HERE): The capital of our “Bretagne” is a nice city, near the sea with nowadays only a small port activity. There you’ll find an interesting museum about Jules Verne, a very nice planetarium, museum, theater, etc... . This city is, with BORDEAUX, one of the French historical place where the trade of Slaves took place. The city is still very rich even the boat construction activity is low.
GOLF COURSES(39 km away): A 18-hole Golf course is at Nesmy. But there are also Golf courses next to the sea as at “SAINT JEAN de MONTS” and “SAINT GILLES CROIX DE VIE”.
SEA SIDE: Very nice, clean and gold sandy beaches are in « La Tranche sur Mer » (45 Km from here) and « La Faute sur Mer », “l’Aiguillon sur Mer” (40 Km from here) where you also have a Casino. Of course in other places you’ll find nice beaches as in “La Rochelle”, “Les Sables d’Olonne” , “Olonne-sur-Mer” and “Saint-Jean de Monts”
PESCALIS. FISHING ( 38 km FROM HERE): You can fish in our pond (40 m X 45 m), in ponds or lakes here around, at sea side or at PESCALIS. This place of 150 hectares big is near MONCOUTANT (department of the « DEUX-SÈVRES) offer to fishermen different ponds and lakes with different fishes.
GENERAL ACTIVITIES: Different lakeside beaches at “MERVENT” and his dam, “VOUVANT” or “ROCHEREAU" will welcome you with a sailing school at Rochereau. These 3 lakes are drinking water reservoir. In the forest of Mervent is a fun park known as “PIERRE BRUNE”. Children like to stay there, see animals and play there and around the lake you have a big and old oak trees forest even several parts of this forest were destroyed in December 1999 with the big storm.
At Vouvant, Mervent and “Les Herbiers” you can practise mountain bike and 3 big bicycle races take place every year in “CHANTONAY”, “Saint-HILAIRE du BOIS” and “LES HERBIERS”. Vouvant (8 km far away) is a nice medieval place with its church and an old tower built by the “Fée de Mélusine” . Mélusine fairy). The legend says that the tower was build in one night. Next to our place (1 km) you can practise horse riding. If you prefer there is also a place 4 km away in Saint-Hilaire du Bois or in Fontenay le Comte (18 km far away).
