Local Area DetailsAt Monpazier, (4 km from St.Cassien) the 12th century English fortified bastide, is listed as an importand national heritage site. At Monpazier you will find all the shops and services including pharmacy and doctors. The countryside around St.Cassien is hilly, wooded and very under-populated. From the house, you can access miles of treking tracks throughout the wood and the country. 10 min. away by car, you will find the Biron Castle and on Saturday morning the market in Villéreal. 40 min. away, you can visit caves, the castles of Beynac and Castelnaud, a bit further you will discover the villages Domme and Roque-Gageac and the town
