Just a couple of minutes from the sea, in the heart of the beautiful town of Calvi, Casa Paradis is situated within easy walking distance of the beach, restaurants, marina, citadel and shops. It’s the perfect base for a relaxing self-catering holiday for families, couples and groups of friends alike, and the extra expense of car hire is a choice, not a necessity. This stylish home is spacious and very well-equipped, comfortably sleeping up to 8 people (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms). And, unusually for such a central location, it has a lovely private patio garden, perfect for relaxing outdoor dining. Casa Paradis is typical of the style of building to be found all over the island, with wooden shutters and tiled floors throughout. Recently refurbished, and with regular updating and improvements made every year, the interior is modern, contemporary and comfortable.

The private patio garden has a teak table and chairs, and a barbecue, set in the shade of a mulberry tree. Steps lead up to the front door. On the ground floor there is a very well-equipped kitchen with quality appliances and utensils, including Bosch washing machine, Smeg gas range oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, cookware, plenty of glasses, plates etc, and a Moroccan table and chairs. The living room has three comfortable sofas, a traditional fireplace, a large dining table, satellite tv including English language and sports channels, dvd and CD players, telephone and WiFi connection. All the four bedrooms are tastefully furnished with comfortable beds, clapperboard wardrobes, mirrors, teak bedside tables and lights, and ceiling fans. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor, and two twins and a double on the first floor. The family bathroom has a full-length bath and separate shower cubicle, and the second bathroom has a shower cubicle. There is a separate toilet on each floor.

Local Area Details

Calvi is arguably the most beautiful of Corsica's towns, its medieval citadel and crescent-shaped bay fringed with snowcapped mountains rising sharply out of the sea. With it's marina, waterfront cafes and restaurants, just perfect for watching the world go by, Calvi has retained an air of relaxed, sophisticated chic. The main 6km gently-shelving sandy beach is very popular with families and offers a variety of watersports. Sailing, diving, tennis, horseriding, mini-golf, an aeriel assault course, paragliding, boat trips, helicopter trips, golf and quad-biking are among the many other activities also available. A car is not essential, and there is also a small train which runs along the coast to the market town of Ile Rousse and beyond, stopping at various beaches along the way, and also excursions into the mountains. Those who do choose to hire a car can explore the surrounding countryside of the Balagne, following the wine route or artisans route which pass through the spectacular mountain villages. So whether you are looking for an active, energetic holiday, or a relaxing time enjoying the excellent local food and wine, Calvi and the Balagne cater for all ages and tastes.
