This wonderful old Bastide is set up in the hills above Aups facing South with views towards the coast, Tourtour and Aups. Mount Sainte-Victoire, which is close to Aix en Provence, can be seen on a clear day from the terraces.

The Bastide de Borme is approximately 1km from the centre of Aups, so is within walking distance of local restaurants and activities.

The Bastide will be perfect for wedding receptions, executive retreats, workshops etc., as well as large group or family holidays.

Facilities and accommodation

Accommodation is over three floors. The ground floor rooms are adjoining. From here, there are two staircases, both going to the first and second floors. Each staircase gives you access to the bedrooms and bathrooms, but do not join, i.e. it is not possible to go up one staircase and down the other. To make it easier to describe, we are calling these the West and East Wings.

There are ten bedrooms over two floors, seven doubles and three singles, many of which have ensuite bathrooms.

The Bastide is suitable for disabled or wheelchair bound people, as the ground floor plus terraces and the swimming pool area all have slopes for easy access and manoeuvring. One double and one single bedroom can also be accessed by a slope, at the rear of the property, and there is a “sling” lift available for use for lowering into the bath.

Ground floor

Kitchen: Newly fitted in a traditional style, but with modern appliances. In a separate area next to the kitchen are a freezer, washing machine and storage area. From the kitchen you can go outside to a shaded area which is ideal to sit and eat or enjoy a cool drink.

Dining areas: There are a choice of dining areas, inside, in the shaded area next to the kitchen, near the poolside kitchen area, or on the private terraces to the front of the house.

Living rooms: There are two living rooms, one with an open fire, which we envisage will be used as a comfortable room for reading and relaxing. Walking through this room is another large room which can be used as a workshop area, or family get togethers, or a TV room. From this room are the stairs to the West wing bedrooms.

Also on this floor is a small cloakroom, with a toilet and washbasin.

First and second floors

Bedrooms: Ten bedrooms, seven double rooms and one single rooms and two twin rooms. Also two of the bedrooms in the West Wing have dressing rooms with single beds in. Most have ensuite shower rooms or bathrooms, or have a bathroom and toilet shared between two or three bedrooms.

Outside: To the East, a large heated swimming pool set in the terraced area, with Jacuzzi and poolside kitchen and dining area. There are many seating areas around the pool and the garden, which is terraced. To the west of the property is a barbecue area, which adjoins the front terrace. At the front of the property are two lower level terraces one with a pond and fountain which is fed from a natural source of water. This area will be a peaceful area to enjoy the sun and the view. From here you will go down the main stairway to the lower terrace which is used for parking and is large enough to park at least four cars. There is also plenty of parking towards the rear of the property (North) for additional cars.

Local Area Details

We are located in the Parc Naturel Regional du Verdon in the Var Department which is situated between the Cote dAzur and the Vaucluse All of our properties are within a 10km radius as we think we can give you a better service if they are close together Both Aups and Rgusse have an altitude of between 500 and 600m making the climate dry with a pure air Therefore the area is ideal for people with respiratory problems The nearest airports are Nice and Marseille both of which are about 15 hours drive with the closest TGV railway station being Les Arcs at around 50km A car is essential here as there are many places to explore and visit in particular the Gorges du Verdon and the Lac St Croix which should not be missed Aups Has 2200 inhabitants and is a small market town There are many facilities in Aups including a reasonably sized Intermarche a pharmacy lots of other shops plus a good twice weekly Wednesday and Saturday mornings market selling local produce and other touristy bits In the winter months a truffle market is normally held on a Thursday morning Further still for a more cosmopolitan selection is Draguignan which has several large Carrefour supermarkets and many other stores RestaurantsCafesBars In Aups there are quite a few restaurants St Marc for traditional Provencal food and pizza and the Provencal Hotel Restaurant are just two located in the town For grander choices there is the Calalou in Moissac Bellevue and the Bastide de Tourtour both within a short drive
