The apartments built in 2005/6 are on the upper floor of a two-storey building overlooking the village square. Each apartment has a spacious lounge with a balcony giving sea views. Private parking is provided in the underground car park.
Local Area DetailsThe village of Jardim do Mar looks out to sea at the foot of spectacular cliffs. It is a 45 minute drive from the airport on the sunny southwest-facing shore. This tranquil unspoilt village of old stone houses, narrow cobbled streets and lush gardens is widely considered by both tourists and Madeirense to be one of the most beautiful villages on the island. It is a small village with a population of c200 and is noted for its world class surfing. The village has two friendly bars, a restaurant,a village shop and a library offering free internet access. A new car park at the edge of the village has now enabled the village square itself to be largely pedestrianised,and a 1km long seafront pedestrian promenade lined with palm trees provides a beautiful setting for a pleasant stroll. The little harbour ( Portinho )has a slipway for small boats and a clean pebble beach for swimming and snorkling,with a shower and nearby beachbar. The next village Calheta ( 5 minute drive )has a busy marina,a sandy bathing beach,shops and several more restaurants. Whale and dolphin watching or fishing excursions can be arranged from Calheta. Some of the island's finest scenery and walking are within a 20 minute drive into the mountains.
