A beautifully presented, spacious two bedroom stone gite / cottage located in a quiet hamlet only 15 minutes from Dinan. With a large open plan kitchen / diner and living room, two large bedrooms with original beamed ceilings, 1500m2 of garden and attached barn-indoor play area, the gite / cottage is an idyllic hideaway in beautiful northern Brittany. It's the perfect place in France for you to relax, explore the wonderful scenery and stunning towns of Brittany and have a fantastic self catering holiday.

The gite is ideal for couples or families looking for a self catering holiday, where you can relax at the slow Breton pace of life in the beautiful cottage and it's gardens, take part in some of the more energetic activities locally, relax on one of the stunning beaches or visit the beautiful towns and cities nearby. With so much to see and do, neither children or adults will ever be bored.

The cottage, or gite, known as "maison en pierre" is located in a quiet hamlet near the edge of the forest of Yvignac, only two minutes drive from the village of Yvignac-la-Tour. The village has a boulangerie (bakery), charcouterie (butchers), bar and restaurant. Eight minutes away from the gite is the town of Broons, with more restaurants / bars, a Poissonnerie (fishmongers) and supermarkets. For anything you can't get there, the hypermarkets of Dinan are only 15 minutes away.

The beautifully presented gite is on two floors, with the ground floor comprising an open plan kitchen / diner and living area, with a spacious hallway to the rear leading to a utility area, with washing machine, a downstairs toilet and access to the rear garden. The ground floor is tiled throughout, except the kitchen which has a lovely parquet floor.

The kitchen is spacious with plenty of storage. It is well equipped with everything you could need for a self catering holiday, including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, coffe maker and toaster. There is a large dining table, seating six, with two high chairs available if required. There is also an iron and ironing board available. The gite is non-smoking and pets are not allowed.

The living room has a feature fireplace with wood burning stove and very comfortable seating. Also provided: a CD player, a television with english freeview channels, a video and a DVD player with a selection of videos and DVD's to watch and a playstation 1 with a variety of games.

From the rear hallway, stairs lead up to the first floor and on to a spacious landing. All of the floors on the first floor are beautiful dark wood floors. Leading from the landing is: a double bedroom with a fantastic beamed ceiling, built in wardrobe and a chest of draws; a twin bedroom, again with a beautiful beamed ceiling, with a free standing wardrobe and a chest of draws and finally a shower room. A z-bed and travel cot are also available if required along with bed guards.

To the rear of the gite is a large garden, accessible via the rear hallway. To the front of the gite is a paved area and another large garden. A BBQ and garden table and chairs are provided for that outdoor living. There are four bikes, 2 adult and 2 child, 4 badminton rackets and net, all available for use by guests. In the adjoining barn there is a dart board, small sandpit and a selection of toys for any young ones of pre-school age.

Local Area Details

The self catering cottage gite is perfectly located in the Cotes d'Armor to give you a huge variety of places to go and things to do. Northern Brittany has a host of beautiful towns and cities where you can just relax and wonder around sampling the excellent cuisine and local cider looking at the abundance of amazing historic buildings or just browsing in the fantastic shops and markets.

The cottage gite is within easy reach of medieval city of Dinan the walled city of StMalo Rennes the capital of Brittany the seaside town of Dinard Cancale and its world famous oysters the world heritage site at Le MontStMichel and Combourg the chteau where Chateaubriand lived.

Things to Do

The coast north of the gite is known as the Emerald Coast it is rocky and very picturesque and has some absolutely stunning beaches at St Jacut de la Mer St Cast le Guildo and Le Val Andr. Or you can just drive along the coast and find one of the many other beautiful beaches, parking is usually free.

If you want to do something a little more adventurous you could try sailing, windsurfing or kayaking with the saling school at Jugon le Lacs, cycling around the nearby lakes, along the rivers and canals, golf at La Corbinais Tremreuc Golf Club, Golf des Ormes, Dinard Golf or StMalo Golf and Country Club, horseriding at the equestrian centre, less than ten minutes away, fishing at one of the nearby rivers or lakes or swimming in the open air pools at Broons and Jugon les Lacs.

If you have children then there is plenty to keep them entertained, apart from the activities already described. There is the wonderful Grand Aquarium at St Malo, with its stunning 360 degree shark tank and Nautibus, the zoo and chateau at La Bourbansais, the adventure park at Cobac Park, combine a trip to Le Mont St Michel with a visit to Aligator Bay or try the huge mazes at Labyrinthe du Corsaire.
