Cortijo Los Platas is set in a seriously rural location in a stunningly beautiful valley with the Moorish castle of Castellar de la Frontera on the far horizon. We generate our own electricity with the aid of solar panels and the water comes from our own well. The cottages have been converted from two traditional Andalucian farmer's dwellings. Each cottage sleeps two people with two supplementary beds for children. The bedroom is spacious with en suite bathroom. There is also a large sitting room with a bar kitchen containing fridge, gas cooker, microwave plus sufficient cutlery, plates, cooking utensils, glasses etc. Linen and towels are also supplied. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, jam plus fruit in season from our orchard awaits you on arrival to get you started. The two cottages are set within the property of Cortijo Los Platas which spreads over 4 heactres. Although located 3kms down a country lane the villages of San Pablo and Jimena are just 15 minutes drive away. The golf courses of Sotogrande and its 'Blue Flag' beach is just 25 minutes drive. Gibraltar airport is 45 minutes and Málaga and Jerez airports 90 minutes. The property has a small plunge pool in July and August but there are public pools with bar/restaurants in both San Pablo and Jimena.

Local Area Details

The Costa del Sol/Costa de la Luz is just 30 minutes away and the cottages are the ideal location for touring Andalucía with Ronda, Cádiz, Sevilla, Jerez all within easy driving distance. Cortijo Los Platas is the perfect spot for people looking to get away from it all and will be of special interest to artists, bird watchers, walkers as the Alcornocales national park is nearby. Horse riding can also be arranged via a local stable with half day and day treks into the park. The Jimena International Music Festival is held between July 11 and 19.
